November will be the indication of what direction the dembs need to move.
Yep, no need for any actual principles or ideas - just need to check which way the wind is blowing

And I'm sure whatever it is, they've got your vote right? And I'm the naive one.

That's what the Dems as well as most every other politician do.

What Should Democrats Do To Regain Their Self-Confidence and Self-Worth?

They should stop focusing on loser wedge issues and fringe topics, and go back to Bill Clinton's winning politics: it is the economy, "stupid!"
Their current obsession with Russia and their hatred of Trump will not get them anywhere. They can't expect to make major issues out of non-issues/wedge issues and win elections
Their failure to focus on the middle class/economic anxiety is going to be their undoing, yet again. They seem to forget which demographic actually shows up to vote reliably (ie: the middle class, silent majority)

If democrats want any chance of winning anytime soon, they'll have to scrap their platform, or what's there for it. Trump reversed everything the democrats did, after he beat "the most qualified candidate in American history" who ran on a platform of four more years. The economy is booming, blacks are at historic lows for unemployment, the citizens of this country are traveling more during the holidays than any time during the obama era and most of the 21st century, people are just happy again.
The only message I've heard from the left, besides "Resist Resist Resist" is to abolish ICE and open our borders. I mean, honestly, what patriotic person, left OR right, would go for something that radical? Plus many democrats have began identifying as progressives. This is pushing the moderate dems to the right.
At this point, I don't think there's anything they can do to regain self worth. Their only shot to win in the future, at this point, is to run with Trump's platform and we know they'll deny everything he does because of their hatefulness and anger. So enjoy the next election or two

They need to tone down the violent rhetoric and stop openly embracing the radical far-left. Every day they continue on this path, the more support they will bleed from their party.
Also, they actually need a platform to run on besides just anti-Trump hysteria. They have no plan for the economy, no plan for unemployment, even the stuff they preach about like free college and healthcare... no plan whatsoever.

They need to convince Hawaiian representative Tulsi Gabbard to be the new face of the Democrat party. Perhaps they are saving that card for later??
Tulsi has enjoyed an impressive career thus far.

Why DNC Chair Tom Perez has chosen Alexandira Ocasio-Cortez as the "future" of the Democratic party is curious.

The Democrats are doing a fine job, they need no help from us. Keep caring more about everything than the average American or Ameica, it's a solidly winning strategy.
I think they aren't Left enough. I would encourage them to triple down on that.

I think you're dead wrong about pushing moderates to the right... I'm a middle aged, white male, independent moderate and I can't wait until November to pull that lever for anyone running against a GOP incumbent. Most of the people I know feel the same. The only people I've heard any different from are here in the echo chamber.
I'm tired of the Trump # show...

Good luck. I've yet to meet anyone like you. I didn't meet any in 2016 and I haven't met any yet.
But since I've got you here... Would you vote for the candidate that promotes open borders and abolishing ICE? I would think that being an Independent, you wouldn't go for those radical progressive ideals. Are you sure you're an Indie moderate?
Also, there were a LOT of democrats that voted Republican in the 2016 election and a lot more that say they're tired of the progressive policies democrats are starting to pick up. There's a reason #WalkAway was started.
