I'm more a one shot, one kill. If I'm ever pushed to the point of shooting someone, I want them dead, as in six feet under. So, I'm probably, if at all possible, going to do it from behind cover, and from behind, period. At that point, I'm cheating.

I know you know this, but disarming is for the movies.

It really doesn't.

So what if guns make killing easy? Lots of things do, but we don't talk about banning them. Europe is discovering that cars and trucks are very effectively lethal when someone wants to use them that way for example. London is now talking about banning some types of knives because people have rotated to using them in place of guns for attacks and they must be effective enough for the city to consider knife control.

The problem, then, is clearly not so much the tool as many things can kill and pretty easily as it is the people who use things to kill.

We can keep banning things forever until all we have left is our own selves and people will start using their own physical bodies to kill. What will you do then? Start advocating to wrap everyone in bubble wrap to be kept perpetually in their own individual solitary cells?

I never said anything about banning anything and I'm not in favor of a wholesale ban on guns.

The context of that conversation was studying the causes of violence in general. But it seems that including the role of guns in any such study is verboten.
