Things like this should be pointed out and Trump should have to at least accept that he's not following his own rule.

Don't you think he's done just that by filing an H2B visa request????

I mean, if someone wanted to conceal something like this they'd go down to the local barrio with a big van and offer some of the local vato's on the street corner a job. That's how most everyone else does it.

That's what I was getting from the story too. He's been on the rallies saying buy American and hire American with the implication that not doing so is unAmerican. So when he starts importing foreign waiters and cooks it looks like he's doing what he hates others doing.

One idea is nobody wants to be service staff in Florida or that foreign language students don't want part-time work. Maybe his 'cooks' are French and Italian chefs, but the application for 'non-agricultural workers' suggests untrained workers. It's a bad advert for Florida if 61 unskilled jobs can't be filled.

Another idea is like healthcare and tarrifs. On the surface, they all look easy to improve in ways that are seemingly obvious. In reality, they're more complicated than that. He might have set off thinking it's the easiest thing to hire American and buy American and suddenly got hit with the same reality as other business people.

Such is the way of the narcissist. Entitlement. Rules that apply to other people, don't apply to them.

Waiters and cooks.
In Florida. Hard to come by.

Right.

Maybe not those jobs but grounds keeper, maid, houseman, etc are typical jobs the average American doesn't want to do.

And maybe he knows nothing about it and this is the normal operation for that area to bring in legal workers for jobs that Americans do not want. We all know we need seasonal pickers etc, so what makes this any different without facts to what it actually is all about. I'm not saying they are hiring pickers but we all know there are many jobs that Americans view as below them or too hard.

Thank you for proving that Trump supports immigrants who work in the US legally.

Outside of proving Trump supports legal immigration and is not a racist this is nothing.

What does Trump have to do with this? Is he running the Mar-a- logo in his off time?

The work is seasonal, which is perfect for those wanting to travel abroad.

People who cry about hypocrisy among their leaders....you are doing it wrong. Completely wrong. And that causes things to never change.

The problem isn't the 'hypocrisy'. The problem is that if what a leader says cannot be followed by themselves, then what they say loses credibility and validity. Bernie Sanders cannot preach about socialism while owning more than 1 house. Pelosi cannot rail against guns while be guarded by armed men. Not because of the hypocrisy, but because what they are proposing is obviously failed rhetoric that they themelves prove unable to follow.

Its why in San Francisco homeless litter the streets with poop and syringes. The cash volume is there to house people, and improve their situation. But for 2 problems: the people who want to have a heart don't also want to have a checkbook...and its likely a mostly wasted effort to begin with for 90% of the homeless due to addiction.

Point being: cries of hypocrisy are small minded. And pigeon hole the conversation into defending people, rather than their policies. Just like "they" want you doing.

I don't really read what he says beyond the occasional, so have no idea what the reality may actually be. But it seems that his position has been that we have laws that need to be followed. He seems to want to weaken the presidency after several administrations grabbing power. For example, the immigration thing...he tried to not write an executive order to address the issues due to a need for Congress to address it. Whatever changes happen need to be codified into law by representatives of the people, not just Donald Trump having one of his lackeys draft up an executive order. I can agree with that. And maybe its more about attacking inadequacies in congress than weakening the executive. I don't know....but its not the first time he's pushed it to them to act, and made the nation squirm a little due to inaction by the legislative (only to come in and do the EO thing that has become the stopgap for a lack of legislative effort).

So with that said, my perception here is that his intention is to follow the law and reduce risk and cost. I've not heard "hire American". His reasons for border control i have heard have been related to controlling crime.

It appears Trump's own supporters are unfamiliar with what his positions are when it comes to the issues. It took me 5 seconds on google.

Did you really think showing them Trumps own quote would get them to admit the hypocrisy?

Of course not! The religious overtones have taken over the defense of Trump.

They are hiring cooks and waiters.

The Mar-a-Lago club asked for 40 H-2B visas for servers and another 21 for cooks. The H-2B visa is for "temporary non-agricultural workers."

Straw man = bad.

I seriously trying to understand...

You want immigrants to have a fair shot in the US, but when Trump gives them a fair shot you cry foul?

So what's the deal?

Do you want immigrants to be welcome and work, or not?

These are not immigrants.
They are temporary workers.

By definition so are a large majority of the people that come across the southern border.

They don't come to stay, they come to make money then leave. What is the difference?

Oh that's right, one way is legal and the other isn't.

Correct.
But it doesn't seem to have much to do with the topic. Which is Trump's "southern White House" seems to be not "hiring American."

how many regular full-time employees does the resort employ?

I don't know.

Has the resort provided any evidence that they cannot find citizens to fill the positions?
