I don't think there's anything worse than an Amereican bending over and saying thank you for the Russian idea of freedom!!

That's laughable. I only care about the American/libertarian idea of freedom.

I have no government "breathing" down my neck, I'm under no illusions. Keep up with your propaganda and bad mouthing us Brits, let me know when your Russian masters cut your supposed freedom and liberty.

I guess it would be embarrassing to have someone consistently pointing out your government's lurch to the far left, its massive overreaching surveillance state and the erosion of liberties. Your government's persecution of citizens exercising free speech and exposing migrant sex crimes. Russia has plenty of shortcomings and anti-liberty practices, but try not to pretend your government is any different.

For instance, the lies RE: Brexit and the attempts to weasel out of carrying out the people's sovereign will. Your government's attempt to isolate Nigel Farage and other right-wing leaders attempting to push back against socialism/globalism.

Sure, because nation-state spies are typically incompetent enough to leave behind definitive and easily-identifiable evidence for investigation. The dumpster, no one will think to check there. You're telling me that dumpster hasn't been emptied in how many months? Not to mention the use of a Russian-linked agent (vs. a commonly available agent VX/Sarin) or the choice to use a nerve agent in the first place

Most (if not all) first responders are equipped with auto-injectors containing atropine and 2-PAM to treat nerve agent exposure.

It is far too convenient. Either that or you guys should re-consider your "4-D chess" theories RE: Putin, Brexit, 2016, Congress, etc

It's actually hilarious coming from someone whose nation leads the world in 'overreaching surveillance.' By the way, who's harbouring the man who exposed your global surveillance programmes? No need to google the answer...it's President Putin.

Do you have an actual argument/rebuttal? Or will you continue to make laughable and unprovable allegations?

Personal attacks via the Internet are a waste of time. Might try engaging in discussion (of points listed earlier)

You're a self-professed American patriot who defends Russia. How's that working out for you? Headaches?

The UK is a US ally and you'd rather believe it's worse than Russia. Was that decades-old Cold War a dastardly ruse by the British too? I could have sworn Reagan (a US patriot) had to escalate the arms race to bring the Cold War to a thaw and the UK was a loyal brother in arms.

I honestly do not understand how patriots like yourself would rather call its ally an enemy and its enemy a political martyr to the UK.

Nobody knows what happened yet and you've already hanged the UK and leapt to the defence of Russia. What a crazy time it is.

I cannot believe that people are so brainwashed to their own government. But I guess that is how they get away with stuff.

Russia is no angel, but news flash for you, nor is the west. In the ladt decade of so, the west has been responsible for illegal wars and responsible for the deaths of millions of men, women and children.

If that was anyone other than the west, we would be calling it barbaric, evil, etc But governments brainwash the people of the country, hence a lot of people in the West forget about what we have done and sweep it under the carpet.

The masses are easy to control. It's called patriotism for your country!

What is it with the internet that makes people argue for the sake of arguing? Where in any of my posts did I imply the UK or USA have clear consciences? Is there some ambivalent line that suggests the UK has some blameless past?

Cheers buddy. For someone who didn't comprehend the post they're replying to, you sure are condescending. I feel like a five year old is shaking its head at me for not believing in Father Christmas.

Russians.

Or did they just take advantage of that?

And this is not off topic, because Russians.

I guess it would be embarrassing for someone to point out your governments lurch to the far right and it's even bigger surveillance state than what we have here in Britian. Again, from which country was the now exposed global surveillance programme brought about??

Your government's persecution of citizens exercising free speech and exposing migrant sex crimes

Here we go again. The person you speak of broke the law and put at risk the criminal case being bought against sex criminals, so much for your right wing hero!!

Russia has plenty of shortcomings and anti-liberty practices, but try not to pretend your government is any different

My goverment isn't perfect but for the life of me I can't seem to remember when the last time they killed journalists and opposition politicians, care to point it out for me?!?!?!

For instance, the lies RE: Brexit and the attempts to weasel out of carrying out the people's sovereign will......isolate Nigel Farage and other right-wing leaders

Brexit is a bit slow but it will happen, and is happening. Our democracy is working just fine and Mr Farage is no longer part of a political party and his previous party lost out at the last elections. The Conservatist goverment is right wing, how many times in how many threads do you not understand British politics, yet make unfounded and out right lies about Great Britian.

because nation-state spies are typically incompetent enough to leave behind definitive and easily-identifiable evidence

Russian ones seem to be lately yes. How many eastern European journalist and politicians have had attempts made on there lives, some very unsuccessful ones, just look at the Ukraine. You can't be that blind and gullible can you??

You're telling me that dumpster hasn't been emptied in how many months? Not to mention the use of a Russian-linked agent

I said that the couple were know for "dumpster diving" and such, they found something and "used" it, which the average person wouldn't do, the police commented to not pick anything up in the area of the park if found.
Here we go again, you supporting a country that would quite happily watch and help the downfall of the United States of America, I just don't understand your love of Putins corrupt goverment????

It is far too convenient. Either that or you guys should re-consider your "4-D chess"

Couldn’t believe it when the news came up another two people had been contaminated with this nerve agent.
Had an appointment in Salisbury centre on Tuesday morning and parked on the road near Lizzy gardens and everything seemed normal and next day I heard the news and hoped this couple didn’t use the same car parking ticket machine I did lol ( they took bus to Amesbury so I’m guessing a fair few people who use that bus are a little concerned now)

Salisbury was just recovering from the last incident, this will be a massive setback

It looks like the couple could have found "something" in the Queen Elizabeth Gardens whilst there for a "picnic". Salisbury is a beautiful place and it's a shame that this will set back trade and tourism for the area again.

I feel for them as well, we would be ruined in my parts without the tourists and English language students.
It could be argued that there are more tourists for us if everyone is avoiding Wiltshire now, but I wouldn't wish that on any fellow tourist place. Solidarity, bet some businesses are hurting and it will only trickle down to everyone else.

Unfortunately some here would like to conflate my mistrust and disgust of the UK government with a dislike of the British culture or its citizens. This is patently untrue, and a miscarriage of the truth to imply so

To be clear, I believe the citizens of Great Britain are subjugated by a despicable government who will lie, spy and oppress to stay in power. The fact they've done nothing but deflect and attack the Brexit movement, despite it surpassing the requirements they laid out, is proof of this.

Unless they can prove definitively that foreign nationals from Russia committed some crime and directly swayed votes, they are full of it. Otherwise, they are simply angry/lashing out because they no longer have control over propaganda and no longer get to decide what the British people think or how they vote.

My first suggestion? Vote those incompetents straight out of office. Assuming they'd respect your vote. After all, they're gleefully ignoring it RE: Brexit.

Who will be accused of being a Russian "hacker" when that happens? You?

You've all surely seen how loosely they throw these type of accusations around. Heck, I've been accused on here by a couple low-information members (a 15 year old conspiracy, I suppose). Even Joy Reid made up some nonsense about "hackers" when she was caught writing all kinds of anti-LGBT slurs online.

I wouldn't trust those folks...

Glad to see it is at least being handled by civilian law enforcement and not some murky intelligence agency.

Curious to see where the evidence leads

But, Boris Johnson and the likes of Michael Gove (albeit BJ has just resigned) are ardent Brexiteers and part of the Govt. You make it sound like the Cabinet are all anti Brexit but that is not the case and that's why the Tories are in such turmoil over the issue.
