So this is about our founding fathers for laying the ground work for us to establish a tyrannical socialist police state?

Ok. I will give you the benefit of my doubt.
This means everbody is in on it?
Our not everybody?
Why are we not a tyrannical police state yet?

I think that is enough time to invoke a tyrannical police state.

Considering how quickly other police states have gotten started.

But then, everyone knows that Americans are kinda slow...
We can't even do police states right...((sobbing quietly)).

They won't win.
Those that oppose our freedoms have already lost.

Not enough illegal immigrants to justify marshal law yet. Or wait, maybe it's too many illegal immigrants so they can't pass the vote? I'm so confused.

All I know is I went to Denver last week, and on saturday night all the bars were bumping with hot coeds, er I mean the place was locked up like a prison! THANKS, OBAMA!

I know, it's confusing isn't it?

'course, I confuse easily. Mostly I just try to stay confused, it's easier that way.

Guns or butter, choose. You can't have both.

All military spending is pure socialism. All police-state spending is pure socialism.

The problem is not money being spent on poverty. The 2008 banking crisis cost about $8 trillion.

"29 Trillion dollars missing from Pentagon. Trump calls for audit"

We spend $60 billion on welfare for unwed black mothers. We spend 29,000 billion dollars on killing Arabs for Israel. For the math illiterate welfare spending is 0.002 percent of military spending. Yet, in the minds of you nutcases welfare is what makes everything suck in this country.

I just heard on Fox News all you have to do is declare yourself an illegal alien and you immediately get registered to vote, you get $8000 per month in welfare, and you get a new $100,000 car. It has to be true if Fox News said it!!!

Whoa whoa whoa, Knock it off with your fancy college-edumacated facts here. We don't take kindly to facts 'round here.

But I got the solution to everyone's problems - something I think we can all agree on. We just fire all the unwed black mothers out of a canon to kill A-rabs in the middle east! think of how much money we'll save! Atleast $60 billion!

Thomas Jefferson also thought that black people were only 3/5 of a person. So, y'know, maybe it's a good idea to update ideas over time, instead of listening to a guy who has been dead for 200 years?

Or maybe, the founding fathers gave us the tools to evolve our country as time progresses? And that any current failings in the government are actually your fault (and mine)? Maybe? Possibly?

Nah... couldn't be.

Scots-Irish slaves were worth far less to the early colonials. That is my heritage. I think we have all paid enough, for the sins of our fathers.

The founders left us the United States Constitution... and, every time the Government moves further away from that founding document, Americans suffer.

The attachment of labels is the source of division. Maybe, just maybe... if we start referring to all U.S. Citizens as "Americans" without any hyphenated suffix... we could start solving our problems.

Most of our money went into the neoconservative sinkhole of genocide known as the Project for a New American Century.

If we wouldn't have followed the Zionest agenda we wouldn't be 21 trillion in debt.

To the OP. The constitution created three branches of Government that would be funded socially. At the time only landowners paid taxes and had a right ro vote. The constitution does actually stipulate that the three branches of government be supported by taxation of whatever amount is necessary to protect the system.

On the flip side the constitution limits the power of government, something that has been completely ignored the last 50 years or more.

Was it Jefferson who was all about the separation of church and state? As an Aussie my US history is abit howyagoin' but I seem to recall that several of the founding fathers were quite aware of the dangers of a Theocracy, even though they were Christian. Hence it being a cornerstone of the US constitution.
I think a full-blown Theocracy could get pretty nasty pretty fast as history has shown repeatedly.

Theocracy is mob rule with a religious twist. Definitely a good thing to keep out of government.

You suck at 4th of July posts.

sorry but we have nothing to celebrate anymore we have turned our country into the exact thing they were trying to prevent

Wait we turned back into a monarchy? Dang I guess I should learn to speak the queens English now.

Funny how your post was supposed to be a dig a progressives/liberals but GOP have controlled congress for a while now and they have the presidency and soon the supreme court will lose its socially liberal conservative.

A million and a half stars for you. I've been saying this for years. We need to call each other Americans

Taxes have never been popular, but taxes are not socialism.

US Marshalls were the first Federal law enforcement officers and there was one per State.

There were no "police forces" anywhere in the US until well into the 1800s.

OP seems to fail on all points.

actually our country defines police state

www.nytimes.com...

The United States has less than 5 percent of the world's population. But it has almost a quarter of the world's prisoners.

we set the standard

I agree with the main point that we have wandered far away from the original vision of the founding fathers. madmac5150 laid it all out and I concur with every point, especially about the - hyphenated Americans. Divide by race, by sex, by gender, sexual orientation, etc etc. We're so much easier to manipulate when arguing with each other instead of organizing against those gaming the system.
