Hey ATS Democrats...what are your true feelings on this? I have a feeling that the DNC chair's viewpoint might not be shared by all Democrats. I belong to no party, because I truly feel that partisan politics corrupts, takes away common sense and breeds division amongst Americans. No one can say that there's much love, or unity between the two parties, in today's world. I have traditional, conservative values and think everyone who's a legal citizen deserves to be treated equal and also deserves an opportunity for success through hard work and self determination. It's true that working your butt off and having a good education, sometimes doesn't always work out, but life's hard and unfair at times. That doesn't mean that we should demonize people who are successful and/or wealthy. The government should not regulate, or hold corporations accountable for the public interest. Companies should be responsible for their employees and stock holders, while remaining competitive and profitable. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes that extensive changes need to occur to ensure companies are made more equitable and democratic. She wants to open our borders, abolish ICE, expand Medicare, offer universal healthcare, tuition-free public colleges and trade schools and have the government cancel student loans that it holds and pay off privately held student loans. Since Ocasio-Cortez is a Democratic Socialists of America member, she believes...

in the abolition of capitalism in favor of an economy run either by “the workers” or the state — though the exact specifics of “abolishing capitalism” are fiercely debated by socialists.

But DSA members also say that overthrowing capitalism must include the eradication of “hierarchical systems” that lie beyond the market as well. As a result, DSA supports the missions of Black Lives Matter, gay and lesbian rights, and environmentalism as integral parts of this broader “anti-capitalist” program.

www.vox.com...

So this is what the DNC believes is, "The future of our party?"

"I have three kids. Two of them are daughters — one just graduated college, one who is in college. And they were both texting me about their excitement over Alexandria because she really — she represents the future of our party," Perez said on "The Bill Press Show."

thehill.com...

The best comment I read, concerning this issue was this, "Please name all the countries where socialism is bringing about a booming economy, vibrant working class and no government corruption.....oh yes...and isn't going broke and raising taxes above 50%.......waiting." CAN YOU?

Zi Democrati Parti is flipping out completely.

They seem to be Hell-bent on keeping those "popular" vote totals.

They are not considering the fact that many who voted for Clinton will not vote for Democrats again.

Zi Democrati Parti is split 3 ways now....

1) Regulars
2) Semi extremes
3) Radical extremes

+ factions within each of the above

The DNC Chair doesn't represent every Democrat just like Trump doesn't represent every Republican. This logic where one person's opinion = every other person's opinion who shares some of the same beliefs is retarded.

I would really like to see a Democrat, Liberal, Progressive point of view on this.

Anyone?

That's perfectly understandable. I think the OP is asking for your point of view.

The DNC Chair saying it is "the future of our party" is retarded.

I was a socialist before it was cool.

Ocasio-Cortez is the future of the party because she's the future of America. Millenials; those underpaid, over-educated, avocado toast-eating voters are fed up with the world they've been left with. They like Bernie Sanders, they like socialism because capitalism has left them behind. Their wages don't match the buying power of their parents, they can't afford housing because their jobs don't pay enough to cover their student loans and everyone writes them off as 'too young and naive.'

Minorities are becoming the majority across the nation and 'working hard' just isn't a reality for enough people, some of whom have grown up watching their parents work two or more jobs and are barely able to scrape by. Their futures are bleak and they're running for office. They are the future.

The Democrats are the " F--- America" party.

They have been for at least a decade.

They want The USA to burn.

Lock them up, kick them out.

Also, saying the DNC chair doesn't represent the Democrats is the stupidest thing I've heard this week.

Well, let's see. I'm not a college grad but I own my own house and have zero car payments. I also don't eat out every night like the millennials do. And dont say otherwise. The millennial demographic for the most part aren't very self sufficient. I've had to work damn hard to get to this spot in my life. I also had a mother who told me hard work pays off. Unlike the millennial mother's who promised their kids everything from participation trophies to choosing your own gender. This, of course is my opinion based on what I've witnessed in my years. Granted, the poor and unfortunate millennial blue collar people are finding work and making a life for themselves because they have too. Bottom line is, you get out what you put in. And some times you have to settle with the cards dealt and work damn hard to get above that threshold.

Hate to break it to you, but millenials are lazy and have no skills. They earn what they're worth, which isn't much. Since the government started handing out massive student loans to any non-white male who had a f# pencil and could add 2+2, a bachelor's degree is now a glorified high school diploma.

And the idiots want the problem to get even worse by promising even more free s# to even more people. Pretty soon you'll need a Phd to manage a Taco Bell.

That's if you can get the lazy bastards to work in the first place. They aren't the future. They're a useless, helpless generation that will do nothing but leech off the labors of others their entire lives.

Off the top of my head,
Denmark.
Sweden.
Norway.
Others have strong socialist tendencies.
Like
England
Japan.
Canada.
And omg!!
The USA!!

abolish ICE, expand Medicare, offer universal healthcare, tuition-free public colleges and trade schools and have the government cancel student loans that it holds and pay off privately held student loans.

I've no problems with any of the above, how much was the bloated military budget and wars without ends Tax breaks for and individuals that don't really need it in a few cases said they don't want it.
You see it's all about prioritizing.

Saw this coming! "A new shining light"... Cortez is being groomed similar to how Obama was groomed to be the posterchild of "all that is good" and "a shining beacon of hope"

I'd say, if true, then good. The 2016 election was pretty much an indictment against the status quo in the DNC. This fact has been reinforced in elections since, like this one in New York and the one in Virginia a few months back.

I know people on this site like to act like the DNC going further Left will kill them. But don't forget that during the primaries every poll showed that Sanders was the only candidate that could beat Trump. So there is clearly a large base that will approve of these ideas.

Not only that but look at what happened with the GOP. Going further Right with the Tea Party brought them back from the brink and gave them the control they have today. Who's to say the same won't work for the Left.

The DNC clearly needs to make a change and going Right isn't really an option. I mean establishment Democrats like Clinton are already indistinguishable from establishment Republicans.

This is what the DNC needs to do to survive. So in that sense she is the future of the party.

That wasnt hard considering one candidate was a socialist and the other candidate a criminal with blood on her hands and bat crap crazy.

She represents the ideolgies of scum like Anti-fa and those who would shut down free speech if it doesnt agree with their own.

Yes this sort of movement might not kill the DNC, but it will guarantee if you keep going this direction that the American people never elect another one to the white house

That's what the Left thought about the Republicans with the rise of the Tea Party. Instead it led to the election of Trump.

It's a blatant pandering to not only socialists but also to Hispanics who are the fastest growing demographic in the US. Most come to the US from Central America where socialism is the norm.
1965 - US Hispanic population was 8 million.
2018 - US Hispanic population approx 60 million - 700% increase.
Same time period White population grew by 128%
Black population grew by 200%.
The future seems pretty plainly laid out here.
The United States will resemble Latin American countries.
