Laser Weapon News
Better Picture Of Weapon

Excerpt from article

China has developed a new portable laser weapon that can zap a target from nearly a kilometre away, according to researchers involved in the project. The ZKZM-500 laser assault rifle is classified as being "non-lethal" but produces an energy beam that cannot be seen by the naked eye but can pass through windows and cause the "instant carbonisation" of human skin and tissues.Ten years ago its capabilities would have been the preserve of sci-fi films, but one laser weapons scientist said the new device is able to "burn through clothes in a split second … If the fabric is flammable, the whole person will be set on fire".

Well then, it looks like Star Wars tech that was a fantasy in 1977 is becoming a reality, setting a person on fire is an interesting side effect for a non-lethal weapon, which could become lethal, burned to death. The new military clothing will have to be anti-flammable to combat this, not 100% cotton anymore.

Wow. Laser guns are here. I wonder what the US military will do to compete?

Oh fun a maiming shoulder fired “non lethal” laser, I’m sure China won’t use that against their own people like the uyghur people or the Falun Gong practitioners...

"instant carbonisation" of human skin and tissues

The beam is powerful enough to burn through a gas tank and ignite the fuel storage facility in a military airport.

Because the laser has been tuned to an invisible frequency, and it produces absolutely no sound, "nobody will know where the attack came from. It will look like an accident,"

Well... This will certainly change warfare...

We can stop shopping at Walmart. That'll hurt.

From the inside intel I have gathered, it is mandated that when the trigger is pulled, there will be a "pew pew" sound for each "lazer" shot fired. That is all.

But there is no pew pew and red lights, this stuff in a movie would rate behind watching paint dry.

Looks ugly.

China's had hand-held personal lasers since the late 90s. They just weren't much good for anything other than blinding people and dicking around with cameras

Here is the thing any half-decent sniper with a conventional rife and scope that can see the beam will be able to take them out from around 1.5 miles.

Interesting all the same but when do we get the real Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range?
