But, no worries... MS-13 is not a problem at all and we don't need no stinking borders or an agency to enforce immigration laws.

The biggest surge for MS-13 actually occurred in the 1990's. The stats that the admin cites for the estimated number of MS-13 affiliates in the US (10,000) is the same number as a decade ago:

President Donald Trump is once again grossly exaggerating the success of his efforts to deport members of the MS-13, a gang founded by El Salvadoran immigrants. This time he claims that his administration has removed “pretty much” half of the gang members. That’s impossible.

There are an estimated 10,000 MS-13 gang members in the U.S. – a number that has been fairly constant for years, dating to at least 2006. Half of 10,000 would be about 5,000. However, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says that the U.S. has deported 2,798 members of all gangs, not just MS-13, from Oct. 1, 2016, to June 4, 2017, which overlaps the Obama and Trump administrations.

According to the DOJ, less than 1% of gang membership in the United States is MS-13:

The estimated 10,000 MS-13 gang members in the United States account for less than 1 percent of the estimated 1.4 million total gang members in the country. According to CNN, 104 of the 1,300 gang members arrested during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement sweep last May — 8 percent — were linked to MS-13.

The estimated 10,000 MS-13 gang members in the United States account for less than 1 percent of the estimated 1.4 million total gang members in the country.

A note about unaccompanied minors. By the CBP estimates, from 2012-2017 only 0.02 percent of unaccompanied minors coming to the US had MS-13 affiliation:

By CBP’s estimates, 0.02 percent of the unaccompanied minors who came to the US — one in every 5,000 migrants — had some MS-13 affiliation.

MS-13 is a terrible bunch of monsters. We can all agree with that. They're real "bad hombres" who do really f'd up # to people. However, the focus on MS-13 has everything to do with anti-immigration demagoguery. They're a tiny fraction of the overall gang activity in the United States (less than 1%) and an even tinier percentage of Central American immigrants — legal or illegal — has any affiliation with MS-13.

Cherry picking stories isn't going to change reality, it just gives people an insanely skewed perception of the actual threat that is useful for manipulating the masses.

Coming from someone who lives on the border: MS-13 is a non-issue. Fix the spillover in the wars with Los Zetas. Stop the folks from coming in to kill people who owe money. How about we do something about our prisons? In my former hometown there were 5 prisons, with almost every single inmate in each one being a Mexican national serving a sentence before being deported.

It mimics Sun Tzu so well that it begs the question of actual strategy. Nice to see the swamp helping take themselves out.

I do suggest we all start reframing the divide in a more libertarian manner so as to help the process out. It's very inclusive and can heal some of the divide I'm quite convinced.

Once the fallout of extremists has normalized then there will be more awakening who understand the swamp and the concept of a "uni-party" that works against all of our interests.

So we'll only have Republican child sex trafficking rings left then?

I have a very hard time believing folk are noble and care about the children when our warmongering and love of regime change hurts WAY more children in much more awful ways than a temporary border separation. Virtue. Signaling. Suit up and direct that nobility to where it's most needed and you will stop being a stunning example of hypocrisy.

No need to go offshore for an example. All we need to do is look at how we treat children here at home.

No outcry for the children we incarcerate for no greater crime than their parents can't afford to pay court fees.

Look you lie and spread misinformation more than Trump and then speak authoritatively as if you work for ICE. Do you??

You're a clown and worse, you're the kind of clown who calls people who presents information that he doesn't want to hear liars. Don't just throw out spurious allegations. What exactly have I lied about? And if you can't tell us, then wtf did you say it, liar?

What does the excerpt say?

"ICE is one of the primary federal agencies responsible for combating human trafficking."

That doesn't contradict what I said which is that the bulk of what ICE does is removal at all. The FBI is the primary federal agency responsible for investigating kidnapping — investigating kidnapping isn't the bulk of what the FBI does.
