I've noticed that this website has turned into a full-blown Right vs. Left subreddit over the conspiracy site we all fell in love with back in the day.
I doubt the owners of ATS ever intended for this to happen, but none the less, here we are.
By now, it's most likely impossible to kill the beast that's taken over this little haven for theories and speculation.

I just wanted to leave a friendly reminder, to all of you who are so dedicated to your political cause on here:

The Left and the Right, our politicians and media overlords... They don't care about you. It's divide and conquer, and you're simply playing into the game. You're nothing more than 1's and 0s on a red & blue map of the USA.

Have a nice day.

Good luck with this. I already tried and the thread was deleted.

Threads like this are always suspect. The OP complains of the left/right back and forth but we are supposed to believe the OP is above the fray. There is always an agenda behind posts like this. Darnit, I declare there is indeed a conspiracy afoot with this thread!

Oh wait... Nevermind..

I have very liberal "interests"...
Though, very conservative practices of reason.

I abhor ignorant fanaticism.

I'm a humanist. I want to reach for the stars with my fellow man/woman and achieve the impossible, together. All for one, one for all.

This divisive divisionary scene isn't where I want to see us.

We create the content here on ats.

If you want less politics then you have to create threads that are not political.

I agree and that is why a few of my threads were cooking related,I am sick of politics.

It takes a little digging but there is still plenty of good stuff here.

The lablers and cheerleaders LOVE a platform to flagellate and that draws clicks. Clicks draw revenue. In Capitalism, that which creates revenue gets highlighted in order to...generate even more revenue.

If the site owners were eliminating the 'little green men' and chupacabra forums, then I would be worried. They aren't. Still one of the only places on the internet to get your conspiracy on in a constructive manner.

I feel sorry for the lablers and cheerleaders. If a civilization built by others did not exist around them, they would not make it as they cannot think.

ATS is still a conspiracy site.

Politics is the most widely accepted CT there is.

Two sides think the other is out to get them and they create machinations to create confirmation bias.

WE are the sum of our experiences, and what we read, and see feeds it.

I agree that the site has become quite the politcal forum. I've lurked on and off for around 15 years, but I do still enjoy visiting.

I'm not sure what the main cause has been, though I think Trump has had a big impact. There does seem to have been a shift in terms of political alignment of ATS, or at least it's become much more visible. I definitely don't remember it as being so overtly right wing as it seems today.

I'm not too bothered about that though, I'm from the UK and I don't really identify as left or right wing. I also think it's hilarious Trump was elected, and I would love to see Hillary go down. I think they're both clowns, but hilarious ones that I find interesting. I don't find the political mudslinging the slighest bit interesting however, in fact it's incredibly tedious. It's very frustrating when reasonable discussion gets side-tracked, or when agendas are so blatant from a thread title or the derogatory terms used in the OP. I instantly close out from those threads. There's so much dogmatism, no one is wrong these days ir prepared to have a reasonable discussion from both sides.

Another reason may be that politcs is just always in the news and there's something fresh to discuss all the time. Especially with Trump tweeting his thoughts ten times a day. That sort of thing obviously didn't happen 15 years ago. And perhaps some of the main conspiracies (Area 51, JFK etc) have become a bit stale and there's not too much new and exciting information out there. I don't know, just a thought.

I'm sure the advent of social media and rise of YouTube has had a big imact too. Given that literally anyone can become a political commentator and reach millions or billions of people with nothing more than a smartphone, being forcefed political and social agendas is largely inescapable.

I also don't think the site layout particularly helps some of us that want to find some good meat and veg conspiracy theory stuff to get stuck into. There's too many sub-forums to navigate in my opinion. It makes sense on one hand, you can avoid politcal discussion if it doesn't interest you, but it can be hard to really decipher where you need to go to get to what you want. I mean sometimes you click in a forum and all the threads are from 2014/15, the last post was from over a month ago.

I'd always thought there should be a at least be a dedicated Moon landings forum along with a JFK forum, just like there is for 9/11. Feels like all the big hitters should get their own one. I mean where would I find stuff about JFK? There must be loads of it somewhere, but is it in the US Political Madness, General Conspiracies, Politicians and People?

I'm not quite sure why I felt compelled to write this given I've posted only a handful of times, nor why it turned into a rant about the site layout (sorry!). I really do appreciate the site and enjoy visiting even after all these years.

Cheers

Could is be that in the last year and a half since he authored that thread the tone has gone from ridiculous to frothing at the mouth?

Could be, but then he could have joined any of the other threads put up daily on the same subject.

If you can't argue the topic attack the poster. Go into one's history and attack. Weak

You go into someones history to get a feel of their leanings and whether its worth getting involved in a thread. In other word are they trolling or whatever.

Oh great...ANOTHER 'politics has taken over ATS' thread!

What does this one make, about 85,000 in the last couple months or so???

Guess what? The REAL conspiracies have to do with politics!!.

ATS is just keeping up with the times.

Hey LOOK...over THERE...a little green Martian!

Not for a second did I say "stop talking about politics on my green martian website", this is for all of you cats out there who are obsessed with the sport of political discussion to the point where one throws logic to the wind, all that remains is bias for one's political party.

Agreed entirely. I'm sick, and have been, with the almost exclusive focus on politics. I have political beliefs, some are pretty strong. But I used to come to this site and others to get away from that -- political conspiracies are vastly different from those that lean toward the paranormal. For one, paranormal topics can actually give us hope that there is something beyond this mess. Political conspiracies, on the other hand, remind us that there's nothing we can do when it comes to those in control of our lives and destiny. All we can do is fight about it but nothing will ever change, no matter who or what is in power. With the paranormal, life looks eternal and free of the constraints of this pigsty. Sure, the complaints about all of this pops up frequently, but I'll support all of them because the near-total political focus is BORING.
