All of this and finally 18 months in we have the abortion issue

Probably has something to with...you know...current events.

I know two women who had abortions, but I suspect others have and just don't talk about it. Both those I know turned Pro Life after the abortion. One ended up going through a horrible bout of depression for months. I think there is an instinct involved that kicks in.

Even the gal that brought the Roe v Wade legal case, ended up being a pro life activist. She died last year of heart failure.

Who decides what is right for the unborn child that cannot defend itself?

Its mother.

In which case that person who chooses to abort, in a very literal sense, certainly should not be called "mother".

I'm sure that's true and I still remember my parents talking about it a lot. It was not a party issue then though. Most Democrats were opposed, in fact most people. My own parents were Pro Life Democrats.

My solution is to just shake the dust off my feet at both parties and bid them a farewell.

Would you use the same argument if the mother decided her 1 day old infant should not live and killed it? Still her "choice"?

That's a false equivalent.

I wasn't being humorous.

It's another sad fact that that statement will make sense to right wingers.

Respectfully..not you.
It would be the mothers choice..the one that has to carry it, until it's a human being.
I'm not for abortion, but I believe it's the mothers choice.

That woman agrees with you. But, keep in mind, that women may already be a mother and decide that her living, breathing children's health, safety and well being are more valuable.

For the same reason the rest of the world is hung up on American gun laws.

Most Americans that oppose a woman's reproductive choices do so because they have been brainwashed through the constrant drone of pseudo through and lies. They lack a sense of feeling in control of the spiraling world around them, so they focus on easy targets, women and children.

The same people that are so adamantly pro life, are also against food stamp programs, subsidizes women and children's health care, day care and public education standards. They're probably also against families seeking asylum coming here.

That's so far off base, it's on another planet. You've been listening to too much party propaganda. Free yourself and go Independent so you can think things through without the talking points filters. Hate is not good for you, it will tear you up inside.

No, it isn't.

The only difference between an infant one day before birth, and an infant one day after? Location.

There should certainly be a discussion within a couple. But the male takes on none of the risks of a pregnancy. Does he?

How about a rapist? He should have a say?

It's not his child until it crosses the magical vagina border.

It should never have been a political issue.

But because it was illegal, it became one.
Like marijuana. Not comparing them quantitatively, but that's why many things become political. Someone says "Make it illegal!" Someone else says "Legalize it!"

Government should just stay out of our lives! Would that lead to MORE societal problems, or FEWER problems?
