Yay! Justice Kennedy is retiring!

Yay! Repeal Roe v Wade!

Wait, what?

Okay. I don't like abortion. Am against it. Bottom line.

But here's where I get uneasy. I'm for gay marriage. I'm for pot legalization. I'm for individual freedoms.

(And before undies get into a knot, I think an unborn child is an individual.)

A judge that would easily reverse Roe v Wade, might be reactionary enough to overturn so many things considered "liberal". We've made so many strides, so many positive changes, that I'd hate to. . . "toss the baby with the bathwater" (sorry) to coin a phrase.

So I'm not clapping today. Instead, I'm looking around going, "Whoa Nelly!" under my breath.

Is it just me?

Probably not mate.

His exit will pave the way for President Donald Trump to appoint a staunchly conservative judge to the nine-seat bench, spelling a historic swing to the right for the court.

If that happens and and things start to get really conservative, nothing personal, but I will LMFAO, only because I don't live in the US though.

I think we should wait and see the nominee. I also think once on SCOTUS, even a conservative can surprise you about interpreting the constitution. Wasn’t a conservative the swing vote on the affordable care act not being a tax?

You think a heavily unbalanced Supreme Court is not a good idea?

Nope. It's not just you.

No. I agree.

I think there are many of us on the right who hope some bozo doesn't overreach on these issues. But we know better. Stupid exists on both sides of the aisle.

Safe to say cracks are appearing in trumps support base...

Anyone who is not concerned is likely not a thinking person.

In favor of what?

After the way the left has behaved these last two years, I've got news for you. It isn't Trump's base people need to worry about.

I disagree, the lunatics are lunatics, that goes for the fringe on both sides.

Unfortunately you don't have options as a voter, one could argue that is intentional.

Lest I miss my mark, the Dems will be defeated by the largest margin in remembered history... maybe ever..

Clapping with one hand? Me also.

I think truly moderate judges are hard to come by.

You're being forced to see that political identities are still identity politics.

You're a fair-minded person. You believe in the Constitution and the rule-of-law. You seem to believe in "live and let live."

Some of the folks who define themselves as "conservatives" aren't and don't.

I don't know...I would like to see 9 originalist judges sitting in the SCOTUS.

I want an originalist.

That means conservative in most everyone's book, but call me crazy but I believe the job of the SCOTUS justices is to look at what the text of the COTUS, not try to divine umbras and emanations and aminuses when they decide whether or not a law or ruling is constitutional.

Exactly! 9 Scalia- minded judges would be excellent.

Is it possible, in this atmosphere, to find true Constitutionalists?

Only if a TL;DR is attached.
