I don't watch the news but yesterday I couldn't avoid it as I was at Toronto General for my quarterly check up. So I see this on the tube:

And something clicked. These two set it up. "Did Justin not know there is 20 TV's on Air Force 1?" Of course he did. "What is he doing?" Here's where it became clear. I thought, "The same thing you're doing now." Trump looks tough on Trudeau. "You can't do that. It's going to cost Canadians a lot of money..." Because the PM had a press conference? Pfft. So this fabricated event has Trump looking like he was wronged and he's going to take a stand.

On this side of things Trudeau is getting support from Canadians that don't even like him. I've seen it here. Hell, I've done it myself. It's always been that way for Canadians. Bloody predictable. So one hand is washing the other to gain support at home. Seems pretty clear to me. Am I wrong?

I think you are ascribing to them both a level of cunning and sophistication they simply don’t have.

I don’t necessarily believe it either, but I think you are underestimating people in power. If they don’t have the cunning, they find people who do.

So was Trump "full of it" when he started this?

See how this BS is sold to each country.

You guys already had tarriffs in place. Trump is just trying to level the playing field that had been unfair for decades. Now you are adding more instead of removing the ones you already had in place.

Trump has all the cards because he is President of the US, and balls.

He is a weak kneed jellyfish, but it would be fun to see Trudies limp wrists flailing away.

No sir, you are not wrong.

And i suspect that this kind of thing comprises a large part of our foreign policy.

Trump pulls the shenanigans as part of his approach in general:

- come in with strong words and look like an asshole to get everyone worried and talking
- end with something either more sane and reasonable, or set up to outright bilk money into the upper tier

Its like Don Trump is channeling Don King sometimes.

I dunno about that. Trudeau looks like he'd lose a fight to a twist tie. He might just be the least intimidating Canadian i've ever seen.

Looks can be deceiving.

Trudeau is not far off the average NHL player in physical size. He would look large if placed in your military.

But, too be honest, I have held the same opinion of him before his charity fight.
