And what are those "identifying characteristics", joepits? Since contrails can persist when the weather conditions are right, it's not that.

So what are they? So far, I've never had a "chem-trail" believer actually tell me how he could tell them apart. The only way I could determine the difference would be to actually collect some.

But for some strange reason, the "chem-trail" believers don't want to get involved in that approach....

So can some one tell me why there would be chemtrails outside my window in the sky as I speak. The problem is I'm on a drilling rig in North Eastern British Columbia and there is only a small town over 200km away, and a small city over 800km away. What purpose or need would one have to spray chemicals on nothing in the middle of nowhere?

So, how do you know that they are chemtrails and not just plain ordinary persistent contrails?

chemtrails are wider, spread out, are usually a brighter white, linger longer

Don't you just love high bypass turbofans - they make really nice CONTRAILS if the conditions are right...!

joepits, have you and ANOK ever thought about posting on some of the "chem-trail" scamsites like carnicom.com? Thre would be no one arguing with you or asking for such tireseome things like "evidence", or even asking embarrassing questions about what stuff is actually in "chem-trails".

As a matter of fact, the scamsites don't even allow anyone who even questions the sacred "chem-trail" theology.

They don't allow any aviation people, or scientists, or engineers, or meteorologists or anyone else who might actually have studied that stuff in college or on the job.

Everyone there believes exactly like you do, and will agree with anything you say. Not only that, but they also know that anyone who dares argue against them is probably in on the secret plot too and is probably a Disinfo Agent or a Traitor or something like that.

This would be a great break from having to deal with weenies like me and Howard and Father Luke Duke and UofCinLA and sensfan and all the rest of us annoying people.

Of course, I'm not for a moment sugggesting that you stay away; this is the best site around.

But carnicom.con and some of the other scamsites are a great break from reality and truth and common sense....

Have considered that since this post, yes. I also post on the yahoo chemtrailtrackingusa group. It would be a lot better to discuss these things with people of similar intelligence.

To be honest, joepits, I'd use terms like "naivete", "gullibility", and "credulousness" rather than "intelligence", but it's all semantics anyway, n'est-ce pas?

Just because these questions can't be answered it doesn't mean it's not happening.
Weather modification is not new, it's been an on going goal of the military to "own" the weather.
Why is it so far fetched that weather manipulation is what they are trying to do?
No one can answer for sure where we came from but we're here right?
There are a lot of unanswered questions, so are they all hoaxes to?

You all talk about intelligence, no one can prove either for or against chemtrails, so wouldn't it be more intelligent to be open minded until it can be proved either way? Instead you all stick your heads in the sand hoping those that question everything will go away after a little ridiculing.

Pull up a flight tracker and verify the type of flight - then I'd be more inclined to believe - until then they are the same damn contrails I've been seeing since I was a kid. There are just a whole lot ore of them because there are a whole lot more flights these days.

Drift and dispersion would make any overhead "chemtrail" land so far away as to probably take it over unpopulated areas. As for weather - lot of contrails do not make for "planned" weather modification - just lots of supersaturated H2O. Cloud seeding and barium drops - different matter and usually well documented as to the time and place it will occur....

Um and since this stuff is on planes in controlled airspace, would not the conversations be easily heard on a scanner e.g. "Alfa-Foxtrot-one-two beginning spray run now...." to be followed by "evil chemtrail spray ahead UAL 602, please divert 10 degrees left to avoid said evil chemtrail spray unless you want to repaint that pretty bird or kill everyone on board"....

Well that's a posibility, but isn't it also posible that they would not say anything. When I witnessed spraying over San Fran there were no other aircraft flying anywhere near the planes that were spraying. Infact the only 2 planes I saw for the whole 2 hours were the two I saw working together.
Most commercial aircraft don't fly over the city, an ocasional one does.
Maybe a couple a day at lowish altitude. Most Comercial flights go over the ocean and avoid going over the city. To many ppl complain if they do.

Just because these questions can't be answered it doesn't mean it's not happening.

No, it means there is no evidence for it and not even a hypothesis to be tested. Do you believe everything everyone tells you? If you believed everything on every conspiricy site you would be very confused indeed.

No of course I don't. But because of what I saw, I am keeping my mind open. It's not that far fetched. If I was claiming bug eyed monsters were flying around spraying chemicals then I would deserve to be ridiculed.
As it is there are indications of this sort of activity being quite possible.
And so I will keep my mind open until it's proven otherwise.

Much as I love you, I still fail to understand why you should spend hour after hour of your precious time trying to debunk what you consider a ridiculous hypothesis . Does it really matter if a section of people on a conspiracy-related website believe a certain conspiracy exists
You know full well that people who view the trails as chemtrails will continue to do so
What's the motivation in trying to undermine these views, and indeed suggesting that these people might well want to piss off to specialised websites where they might talk to their own
What on earth's wrong with attempting revalation on a generalised website
You know that wholly negativising the perspective of others will form a feedback loop that will damage yourselves, though ultimately I suppose you're easily expendable fodder
