Maybe we need to just put it all out on the table.
Putting this in the Pit because I know how aggressive the right wingers on this site like to get and I want to give them plenty of mud to sling - it's just entertaining to watch.

Anyways, looks like A Democrat Socialist of America defeated a normal Democrat.

Things are going to get interesting.

Can I get a Bernie Sanders 2020!?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeats fourth-ranking House Democrat Joe Crowley in massive upset

Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and ran to Crowley's left. She ran without corporate donors, and Crowley had about 10 times more money on hand than she did as of early June. She promoted proposals such as Medicare for all and a jobs guarantee. Ocasio-Cortez argued that Crowley — a 56-year-old white man — could not properly connect with the diverse district.

The 28-year-old's decisive victory over the fourth-ranking House Democrat in New York's 14th District holds potentially huge implications for the future of the party.

Let the games begin!

The district sits mostly in Queens and part of the Bronx...

Meh, not really shocked by that at all.

Please keep thinking farther left is the answer though.

This is who the Democratic Party has become so it isn’t really surprising that the left wing nutter would win. The good thing is that the further left the Democrats go the more disconnected from mainstream Americans they become.

This may be true and if so, what shall we as a "country" do about it?
What happens when it's always 50/50 and one side barely wins?
More problems ahead, I think.

Yes. That is exactly what they need to do. The nuttier the better. I think you are on to something man.
As far as Bernie 2020 I think that is a great idea. He will not roll over again to the will of the DNC. I am sure of it.
I am sure the Republicans will support this.

Curious here.

Sanders tossed aside his (I) tag to run on the (D) ticket. The (D)'s firmly gave him the shaft then he schmoozed right back up to them (also to the tune of a heavy bag of cash).

How can you hang your hat on that peg?

I think each side should sent their representatives to bi-weekly slapfight tournaments, and if no clear winner emerges from all of this, a two-man sack race will be held on consecutive Sundays until a champion can be crowned.

Or we could have a meme war.

I don't. If not Sanders, someone as progressive.
I'm sick of the oppression being pushed onto the majority of this country, left and right, it doesn't matter, we need to wake up and move in new and radical directions.
Trump, in a lot of ways has sparked this radical change. Let's do the math and keep moving AWAY from standardized and corrupt Dems and Reps. Same old same old.

That's fair.

I was just curious as to why you chose Sanders, as he proved that he is not what you describe, as the focal point of your direction.

But, that's what we're doing now. Trump ran against both parties. Drain the swamp and MAGA and all that.

When you employ the market value system of identity politics it is essentially the same thing as taking gobs of cash for your campaign. Potentially even more dangerous because you are pitting groups of people directly against each other. So to say this particular candidate refused money is ridiculous. Have you not noticed that scores of corporations in their commercials and Hollywood with their movies are literally doing the same thing to sell you the same old watered crap they always were?

Because of the platform that he ran on in 2016, that's all, nothing deeper than that.
I like the direction he was heading in.
Operative word being "was".

He dared to oppose Pelosi so she sent in the Communists and Soros's MoveON to slay her enemy.

Dems have no chance, if they ever wake up they will get replaced by young socialist minority candidates in the Primaries who will be good little slaves and obey the plantation owners with a smile.

Essentially every Democrat and corporation supported Crowley.

Wow, how did you get that so backwards? Socialists threaten the established DNC just as Trump scared his flock of lemmings.

I think some people have buyers remorse about that and will be looking for someone else closer to what they truly wanted.

I hope that this all means third party candidates get their time in the sun for once.

The MSM will have Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on TV and the internet all over the place.

The boards will too.

That alone will motivate the (R) vote.
