WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling, upheld President Donald Trump's restriction on travel to the United States from a handful of Muslim countries on Tuesday, giving the White House its first high court victory on the merits of a Trump initiative.

After a series of federal court rulings invalidated or scaled back earlier versions of the travel ban, Tuesday's win for the administration ended 15 months of legal battles over a key part of the president's immigration policy, which opponents attacked as a dressed up form of the Muslim ban Donald that Trump promised during his 2016 campaign.

Imposed last September by presidential proclamation, the latest version maintains limits on granting visas to travelers from five of the seven countries covered by the original executive order on travel — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. It lifts restrictions on visitors from Sudan, and it adds new limits on North Korea and Venezuela.

its good to finally marginally get the supreme Court of the United States of America to finally agree with the president, it only took 2 years to get the travel restrictions lawful.

definitely helps to know the Constitution sworn to uphold in order to 'win' ...

It is nice to see common sense prevail for a change. Good on the SCOTUS and President Trump for protecting Americans.

Now that the Supreme Court has come out with this decision, I wonder if the armadillos will champion the court's legal authority like they did when the lower court fools tried to cry racism over a national security issue.

A preliminary ruling that allowed the ban to go into effect prior to the scotus decision on the case itself. It overturned the bans put in place by district courts going way beyond their authority.

Apparently this ruling will also allow him greater powers when it comes to the Mexico immigration issue. Trump could theoretically add Mexico to the list to stop all immigration coming from Mexico.

So much for all of those threads and posts by armchair constitutional lawyers who said Trump's actions were illegal.

The 9th must be in mourning.
