Anthony Kennedy, the longest-serving member of the Supreme Court, is reportedly considering retirement.

Kennedy has, since at least 2005, been the swing vote on many of the Court’s most ideologically charged decisions, responsible for 5-4 rulings that legalized same-sex marriage, preserved Roe v. Wade, upheld warrantless wiretapping, blew up campaign finance restrictions, overturned DC’s handgun ban, and weakened the Voting Rights Act. That position has made him one of the most powerful people in America for well over a decade now, not even counting the 18 years he shared his position as the Court’s swing voter with Sandra Day O’Connor.

So Trump may be set to name another SCOTUS justice further pushing the court farther to the right....Generations of right to be exact.

Well, the poop is going to hit the fan now!

And before anyone gets their undies in a knot, I've always advocated for term limits on Supreme Court Justices.

So are you against same sex marriage?
Are you against women having the right to choose?
Are you for handguns in DC?
If you answered yes to any of these, why?
Asking for a friend everyone else who still has some common sense and decency.

I advocate for term limits on every political position... And even some pivotal state and federal paid positions.

Thanks.
Wouldn't you agree that Kennedy be replaced with an equally minded judge?
Otherwise, we may slide into something like the world of The Handmaids Tale.

Whoa cowgirl, chill out man 😎

Nobody said anything about all that, we can have that AND a conservative judge as well 😅

No I hope he is replaced with the exact opposite of him. And I hope he/she then is replaced with the exact opposite of them...forever and ever and ever....

That's what makes this country awesome...diversity and the ability to piss off everyone with it!!

It's OK Arnie123 some people are easily disturbed at the sheer idea someone may be in power they disagree with.

Hopefully those people will get over themselves or risk descending further down the hole of self righteousness.

umkay.... kewl... uh huh
It's just that I would think that the majority of this country is left of center, so that should be reflected in our supreme court.

Just a reminder, SCOTUS has been stacked conservative for over a generation already. The GOP's refusal to confirm a new justice was a disgusting display of partisan hackery that will not be forgotten anytime soon.

And the 4 justice minority, which held that law enforcement should be able to get Americans' location data from cell phone providers without a warrant, was — you guessed it — entirely conservative.

Having both Liberal and Conservative input and perspective can have a lasting balance . Either one dominating for too long is not a good thing . I guess being consistent is one important part though . Unlike reg politicians who forget what and why they said what they said yesterday .
Nothing really new but both sides should keep that in mind when jumping aboard any band wagon

I find the news extremely encouraging.

There's one man that stands WAY above everyone else as the perfect replacement for Kennedy's seat.

Trey Gowdy.

That's a man we could DEFINITELY do business with.

We'd have a real ballgame, folks.

Whatever happened to Justices being impartial and non-political?

This left-right crap is a cancer to every branch of our government--it's expected in the other two, but should not exist in the Judicial Branch.

How about we just appoint some constitutionalists--they're the only people qualified for such a position.
