Let DARPA be DARPA?

How about hell no? How about limiting the power DARPA has to operate in secret, so that no more of its inventions can be used to contravene aspects of the constitution, by way of increasing yet further, the reach of mass surveillance initiatives, and spying programs and methods? How about sticking a livestreaming webcam in the face of every one of its employees, even the janitor, so that they cannot continue to research and develop tools for performing tasks which no freedom loving person would ever endorse or agree to the necessity for?

How about that?

I hear you but...

Unicorns & rainbows.

That is simply not the world we live in. To not innovate would be the true crime.

And BTW - if not for DARPA, *none* of us would even be able to have this discussion. They, not Al Gore, invented the internet via ARPANet.

You can look it up...

Right. So encourage them to continue to go completely off the rails to the tune of building Skynet to wipe us all out. Got "terrorists" out there what else we gonna do?

They did, and now their techs are weaponising the system and turning it against the people, invading privacy without warrants, which makes them traitors to the principles of the nation which birthed the DARPA project in the first place.

Not true - where do you hear all this stuff?

DARPA is an independent body under the DoD who for the most part are actually very successful in their mission: to make pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies for national security. Often, those techs also make their way into the commercial sector to everyone's benefit.

DARPA Wiki

Or do you believe that a nation shouldn't leverage technologies for purposes of national security?

Like it or not - we are a target. To not do this would be just plain stupid.

THat's what they're building. Since like the day after 9/11. All those words, the images, the animations, that's all from DARPA / DOD sources. 100%. It is the Official Version. I merely combined it as one over that music for it.

Apologies for the images being down. Not too long after I did that piece my paid photobucket account, and youtube account were both zapped with no reason and no recourse (both in a 2 week window).

I know.

I've worked with them on some of the AI aspects of the project. Not in a direct way - indirectly via my current assignment. And only on design ideas.

And nice job on the vid, BTW.

Thanks.

Ya they're whole model is compartmentalization taken to the extreme. Every lab from corporate to national to university does little 'modules' for this 'AGI Manhattan Project'.

$10+ trillion unaccounted for at the Pentagon.... Hmmmmm...

It shouldn't leverage technologies which harm the liberty of citizens, under the blanket of national security, and that means no to the drones, to the backdoors in tech, to the routes by which the government routinely violates the constitution that its employees are meant to protect with their lives.

And this coverage is only on one camera platform....Imagine dozens if not hundreds of drones....

Crazy tech...Like Minority report but just working backwards to solve the crime.
