My grandma had it for Rod Stewart.
She asked my Mom, who is that?
Then she said he can put his shoes under my bed anytime.

I was thinking, why would you want his smellyass shoes under your bed?

Great find!!

I remember the video on mtv with Rod singing it.

So did I-!

But I can't find it on you tube where/When he sang it...

😒😎

Only thing I can come with is, he sang it as a cover for VMA?/MTV? and gave credit to Kim.....?

In my timeline Rod Stewart is played by Mike Meyers and is lead singer for GNR

cover
Since his voice is so similar to Kim Carnes' voice, it seems like a natural song for him possibly to have covered, somewhere, sometime, but not necessarily as an official release.

Jackie DeShannon and Donna Weiss wrote the song "Betty Davis' Eyes in 1974 and put it on an album then.

Kim Carnes took it and made it her own...

I’m fairly certain rod covered it at some point he may have even done a duo with the original singer. That’s probably where you’re getting confused.

That could be! I'm 80% certain I saw Rod singing it on MTV/TV show.....?

Big fan of the music of that era, and I don't recall him ever doing that song. Not even doing a cover at any point. Perhaps just remembered wrong? Some people thought that some Quarterflash songs were Pat Benatar at one point. Mistakes do happen, and no internet in those days to check on the facts.

It was always sung by a female (although I didn't know her name)...never by Rod Stewart.

Also, I curse you and your family for getting that song in my head.

Play "Major Tom" several times over, the Shiny toy Guns cover - that will purge anything.

Yes, great song! Can even understand the confusion, because the voices are similar. Find Another Fool was also a pretty big hit.

Well, at least "...she's got Betty Davis eyes" is not repeating in my head anymore.

Now it's "...I'm gonna swallow my tee-ears"...over and over.

As has been mentioned, Kim Carnes' raspy voice is extremely similar to Rod Stewarts's voice, which could be cause for some confusion when thinking about that song.

I know I was thinking when I read the OP's post "Hmmm, when I play that song in my head, it sounds like Rod Stewart", but when I did the Google search and saw it was Kim Carnes's raspy voice instead of Stewart'd, I instantly realized my mistake.
