Peer review helps validate research, establish a method by which it can be evaluated, and increase networking possibilities within research communities. Despite criticisms, peer review is still the only widely accepted method for research validation.

It's a process for validating research. For ensuring the logic of a study or experiment is sound, and that the results are reproducible.

Peer review may not be perfect, but it's a system run by humans. Nothing is perfect.

If you were speculating prior to 1960 nano technology wouldn't enter the conversation.

Have a look at the premise of Asimovs 2nd Foundation. It was established in plain sight. "Mentalics" gently guiding human affairs

Actually it would make less sense for them to be closeby. Then they could be discovered. Nanotechnology would easily be able to guide evolution and monitor every single human on Earth without any chance of detection, while getting a billion times more data than "abduction and probing". Tiny cameras on Earth (if they wanted an Earth presence) could monitor everything and give them undetected monitoring. What you suggest simply makes zero sense.

The whole 1960's argument is actually proof I am right. In the 60's they had no knowledge of advanced technologies like we do today, so the stories fit with what a person of that era is limited to. Now we have an inkling of what an advanced species is capable of, which is why looking back those old ideas seem so foolish.
