From what I gather I have to make 20 posts before I can create a thread. Is this correct?

Yes.

Unless you're Australian.

Then it's 3,000.

So if you're Australian, go away.

Because, kangaroos.

Then how did I create this thread? In the beginning I thought I was replying to the first introduction thread but it made my own thread.... I’ll just keep posting then... :/ a reply to: testingtesting

Depends on the forums you choose. General Chit Chat may work.
I think it's down around 5 post now. And this thread counts.

Welcome aboard

Yes it is like threadinception but you can make this thread due to it being in the introduction thread once you post 20 posts you can make threads in other sections of the site.

I do but I use my phone more to communicate. Though I should type what I want to talk about when the 20 posts are complete.

Until then I can practice on here.

Until you have 20 posts (happens quick enough) you can only make a thread in this Intro forum. After that, the boards are yours to post any thread in. The "New Thread" option will probably only be visible in this forum (Intro) until you have 20 posts. Hope it helps. And welcome!

Or get a nice tablet 😊
If you're on a phone, then you're not getting the full experience😉

Edit: you can post anywhere...
It's the rule of starting you're own 'Threads' . That's where the 20's and in the case of the "R.A.T.S forum (Really Above Top Secret) you need 200 post.

When the time comes, you need to go to the forum where you want to start your thread. The shortest way is to scan the Recent Posts page for a thread on a similar topic and click on it.
You will find an icon which says either New Thread or New Topic (depending on where you are). Click on that, and you will fnd yourself on an editing page and can start typing.
One word of warning. When you have typed your title, do not press Enter or similar key. Instead, click on the main box, as it advises you. Pressing Enter has the effect of posting the thread immediately, without waiting for the rest of your text.
Obviously you've managed to avoid that trap here, but newcomers and people in a hurry often fall into it.

Welcome back... ATS changed the format in August 2013.
So it's very different from the time you were last here.

It's pretty hard to make new threads when you're down under.
