I know that case go to the District Court before anything else. So of course it would a District Judge hearing this case in District Court. Also, since when is going to a port of entry and requesting asylum a violation of our immigration law?

As for using the ACLU as a source, is it now frowned upon to use a primary source on this site? I mean they are the ones representing the plaintiff.

The ACLU supports open borders. That's all I really need to say about that.

Also, if are processing facilities are full, these people are turned away from the point of entry facility and told to come back later if they are claiming asylum status. So explain to me since apparently we have the "No Vacancy Sign" lit up, how are they getting in???

Why don't you ask our government that? Ms. L and her daughter arrived at a port of entry. That is a fact. So if the processing facilities are full why did they get detained in said facilities?

I am asking Congress to fix our broken immigration system! Unlike you and many others who just want to keep kicking the can down the road like Congress has done for YEARS???

Perhaps you guys want open borders just like our corrupt Congress? That was rhetorical BTW, because of course you do! Why else would we have sancuary cities?? You would think these sancuary city official would support fixing our immigration system?

Nah, it's quite transparent what you guys want. Open borders, chaos, lack of any rule of law etc etc

A neighbor who doesn't like how you upkeep your yard can make a simple phone call anonymously and you will be forcibly separated from your children by Judges for an easy six months before you prove your innocence and get your kids back.

What a system. This liberal Judge is an idiot.

What happens when all this is done and it's found to be un-American and unconstitutional in all the courts? What happens when even the outliers realize what is happening is going against the very core that makes us free and American -- what people are supposedly proud of, while trying to dismantle it?

What happens to all the people who were supporting this inhumane treatment? Will they pretend like nothing ever happened and expect the rest of us to just forget about it? Can we forget about it? Never Forget?

Really? What are the expectations from the alt-right who support this behavior? This will not stand. What happens after it stands no more?

DHS does not have a blanket policy of separating families at the border. However, DHS does have a responsibility to protect all minors in our custody. This means DHS will separate adults and minors under certain circumstances. These circumstances include:

1) when DHS is unable to determine the familial relationship,

2) when DHS determines that a child may be at risk with the parent or legal guardian, or

3) when the parent or legal guardian is referred for criminal prosecution.

Familial Relationship – If there is reason to question the claimed familial relationship between an adult and child, it is not appropriate to detain adults and children together.

they are being separated because their is no proof they are related.

And why did this not become a problem until April with the zero tolerance policy? Why did the number of detained "unaccompanied" children jump up at that point? Why did it take four months and a lawsuit to get the government to do a DNA test to prove parentage in the case of Ms. L?
