Those pics are processing centers I do believe, the facility in the video is where the children are housed AFTER processing. There isn't some Hilton hotel right at the border, where these children can immediately be booked into--Processing is necessary, and because of logistics and resources, it often isn't the most comfortable step in the course.

A good way to avoid this is for the parents or those claiming to be the parents of the kids is to not cross the border illegally. Pretty simple concept no?

They have weaponized immigration, using children as the bullets.

If the Dems are complaining then we must be headed in the right direction.

If both parties are complaining, along with the American people, Trump's a moron. If he's not doing anything wrong or reprehensible, why is he trying to blame his new policy on the democrats and Obama? You don't scapegoat something you believe to be the right thing.

Because he is using this to change the laws, forcing congress to act. It is their job to correct the bad laws niw being enacted.
And he is putting a stop to child trafficking.
Something like 80% of these kids are WITHOUT parents.
And no girls. Why are like 95%+ of these kids boys?

just did a google search and FFS at the sobbing media....everything is IMMIGRANT this or that. Very few are addressing their illegal crossings. NOBODY is asking how these people made it all the way across Mexico. The news rarely mentions asylum seekers. Nobody is screaming at Congress to pass reform laws.

It's a total media whitewash against Trump.

How many mothers and children should the US let in? Would this have any detrimental impacts on social welfare programs? Education systems? The list goes on......

Instead of all this my side is right bull, what is your actual solution without free and open borders? Say 500,000 moms and kids showed up tomorrow, just let them in? A million? 5 million?

It is estimated that 70,000 children will come across this year

what if?

it is not hard to follow

naturalization is a function of the federal government

immigration is a state choice in how they choose to deal with it.

if you are really concerned about anchor babies how do you feel about this -

Birth tourism is a booming industry thanks to the growing middle- and upper-class in Russia and China. These families have no plans to work in the U.S. or pay U.S. taxes as their child grows. Rather, U.S. citizenship is an extra security blanket that the wealthy give themselves after months-long vacations on Miami’s beaches. It also gives their kids a shot at financial aid at U.S. schools and easier access to jobs in the U.S.

Just another thing Obama did that they can blame Trump for lol..

obama nor any previous president ever detained the majority of children in these situations.

that is the difference here and it is the first time since the japan detentions

And if they separated the families you all would complain about that. There is no pleasing you all. Something has to be done about these people breaking the law.

What do you propose other than virtue signalling?

no deflection

i will state again

the power to control immigration belongs to the state.

just as another poster has brought up the extended stay births even that could be handled by the state with a bit of logic.

step one admit that the human in the belly is human

step two let the state decide if they want to grant rights to the persons and if not send them home

it is not hard

look at California using state power to allow immigration the other states can do the opposite.

I am in texas and if we took back our power of immigration then the texas national guard could begin today to just send them back and anyone claiming asylum can be processed.

Since I've been reading ATS I've noticed a lot of people here like Israel. Really I mean love Israel as in Israel can do no wrong. With such a shining example of democracy and human rights before us I propose we pattern our own border security after the Israel model.

First that would mean we need to build a wall. Trump himself pointed this out. As for details like how to manage non citizen populations, we can ask, "What would Israel do?"

Most of these people don't care about those kids. They couldn't care less what those kids were going through when they like the guy in the White House. They are using those kids as political pawns.

I love it when Democrats get caught lying -

Obama seeks change to law that protects immigrant kids Alan Gomez, USA TODAY Published 12:00 p.m. ET July 2, 2014 | Updated 7:02 p.m. ET July 2, 2014

The change is part of a broad effort by the Obama administration to get a handle on the flood of young immigrants crossing the border. More than 50,000 unaccompanied minors have been caught on the border so far this year, most coming from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. The White House is requesting about $2 billion to house the children and move to the border a flock of immigration judges, U.S. attorneys and asylum advocates to counsel some immigrants on their asylum applications.

But immigration attorneys were ourtraged by the notion of changing a law designed to protect unaccompanied minors who may be victims of trafficking and violence.

"It's an utter devastation of due process for our most vulnerable community members," said Ruthie Epstein, a Washington-based policy analyst at the ACLU.

The White House wants all immigration cases – those that end with a deportation or an approval to remain in the country – resolved more quickly. Immigration courts are backlogged around the country, leaving children and adults waiting months or years for their cases to be resolved.

The 2008 law, which passed both chambers of Congress by unanimous consent and was signed into law by President George W. Bush, dictates exactly how children caught crossing the border without their parents must be treated.

click link for entire article.

The bolded part is the lie. Democrats keep claiming there was no law and their is. They claim its a policy Trump can change when the law in question says how illegal minors are to be handled.

In 2008 Democrats controlled both houses of Congress. The law was passed by UNANIMOUS consent.

it is all about unaccompanied minors...

The reason they did not ever rule on accompanied minors is because we never sought to tear them apart till now.

You keep posting info on unaccompanied minors as far as i can tell
