Spanish sushi rice?

Trump wasn't wrong, Japan is isolated from this problem and if that were to change their leaders would be out the door immediately. The Japanese citizens wouldn't stand for that pandering horsecrap, nor should they. Nor should we, Americans.

I coldn't argue against that with a straight face. He is a politician now and bigotry is prevalent in politics.

By definition, we are all a bit bigoted.

Overall, I don't see this being that big of a deal.

Trump said something stupid...that's normal. He will do the same thing tomorrow, and the day after that.

Indeed. Trump excels at pandering to his base.

I bet that made Shinzo want to build a wall
Probably not because of the demographic problem they are facing as well as a few other Nations around the world and Europeans are right up there with them . en.wikipedia.org...

The number of Japanese people with ages 65 years or older nearly quadrupled in the last forty years, to 33 million in 2014, accounting for 26% of Japan's population. In the same period, the number of children (aged 14 and younger) decreased from 24.3% of the population in 1975 to 12.8% in 2014.[2] The number of elderly people surpassed the number of children in 1997, and sales of adult diapers surpassed diapers for babies in 2014.[7] This change in the demographic makeup of Japanese society, referred to as population aging (kōreikashakai, 高齢化社会),[8] has taken place in a shorter span of time than in any other country. According to projections of the population with the current fertility rate, over 65s will account for 40% of the population by 2060,[9][10] and the total population will fall by a third from 128 million in 2010 to 87 million in 2060.[11] Economists at Tohoku University established a countdown to national extinction, which estimates that Japan will have only one remaining child in 4205.[12] These predictions prompted a pledge by Prime Minister Shinzō Abe to halt population decline at 100 million

Another rare point of agreement.

That really was a dumb thing to say, but who am I to talk. In a way it's refreshing to have someone who does not vet every word carefully and often says things they don't mean. Obvious joke is obvious.

Racist
Come on, that's ridiculous and very telling. It's why I don't want a damn thing to do with either party now.

Sounds like a joke to me. I'll bet everyone in this thread has told far far worse.

If you have to explain that something was a joke, it probably wasn't.

Got any clips of Trump laughing?

It proves that governments are authoritarian.

All that gee-haw about individual rights and the estate of man is for when you're not in charge.

It proves that governments are authoritarian.

It proves that the US government is not.
In spite of the head of its Executive Branch.

This thread is pretty funny.

Trump's comments are just stupid, I'm starting to see a theme tbh.

Sending the village idiot to represent the settlement kinda thing, it's comical but not that beneficial.

Comedians laughing at their own jokes is considered tacky. And Trump would never, ever be tacky.

PS: Since liberals are anti-comedy nowadays, it figures it would require explaining.

"Ship them to Japan" really bugged me, off the cuff remark or not. As though they are "his" to do with as he pleases.
As if they have no self-determination. Because he said so.

Trump represents the worst of America.
The Americans that end up being the stereotype of "Typical American".
Ignorant and culture-less, crass and crude.
Thankfully, not all Americans are like that "thing" that's in the White House.

You are smart enough to know what constitutes laughter. You know from what it is derived and the purpose it serves.
There is a grain of truth.....

You know it. I know it. We all know. Ever listen to a stand-up comic? You know exactly what I mean.
