Build a wall and case closed....

what about asylum seekers?

they are being turned away at the ports.

a wall does not control the smuggling problem we deal with at the ports

the national guard was enacted to act as temporary wall yet the smuggling continues

There must be a cap on asylum seekers too. Asylum seeking cannot and should not ever mean an open border gateway. Changing the words from illegal immigrant to asylum seeker, doesn't mean you get your open borders wish granted.

Laws can be changed so asylum can be sought at embassies outside the U.S. We should not entice children being sent across a desert where they are raped and killed.

yes states can set there limits

the feds can only legally make recommendations

no it would not be wise to allow people to apply outside the usa

the system would literly implode under the pressure of the whole world applying at the same time.

the thought behind making them come here to apply is that the harder you make it the less applications we would get and those that made it here would be the stronger among them

sad but true

Easy peasy, we have limited intake, apply IQ, Education, etc, merit tests. Take the best of the best seeking Asylum from all over the world.

I agree somewhat

now understand that asylum is only a small portion of the total intake and it is not really an area where allowing the best is the wisest choice since the goal of asylum is to provide a safe haven for those in the world that have been beaten and battered by life the most. Those that if not allowed to enter would wither away and die.

The rest of the intake certainly needs to be exactly as you stated.

If illegal migrants inundate the asylum seeking system, and we can only let in a certain amount, we must choose measures that ensure the best for our country.

I think an emergency room triage is more like what we need to do. Take care of the worse cases first.

Did you know that part of US asylum law requires that immigrants who are rejected can't be returned to the place from which they fled, they have to go to a neutral 3rd party nation.
