Trump shouldn't do anything to restrict the freedom of the press, and he should leave them be, but he sure as hell should remove them from the White House press corp. Give their seats to lesser-known, but more truthful news agencies. Why should he continue to allow them in when they don't report any truth that comes out of the briefings. They twist and spin everything and they are nothing more than National Enquirers of broadcast news.

Everything you read will have slant or a spin on it, so by 'more truthful' do you mean 'a news organization who spins and is biased to my liking'?

If one can't see the path to fascism you're blind.

If you can't see that the USA is possibly the farthest country away from fascism I am embarrassed for you.

Considering our prison numbers I'm not sure how anyone can make that statement with a straight face.

I will say this. Libel is a crime in this country. And, if it were a viable option in terms of time and money, Trump could sue just about every one of the major MSM outlets in this country for it ...I think his tweets are enough, though. The President doesn't have to make these reporters look any more stupid than they already make themselves look, and the MSM deserves all of the disrespect that they receive.

Most of us already know that they are lying 99.9% of the time. They have zero credibility with the greater majority of the American people. They are, notsomuch news anymore, but propaganda arms that come off as ignorant, petulant children for the most part, and can look themselves in the mirror as being one of the reasons as to why so many Americans are turned off by the views and platforms of the left.

I say all of that to observe that Trump has been under attack from a MSM that shamelessly suckled the teet of the Hillary campaign (and Obama campaigns prior to that one) like psychophants before he ever even got into office. It was not HE that really declared war on the MSM. It was the MSM that fired the first shots and declared war on him. But they picked on the wrong target ...And they have been digging themselves a deeper and deeper hole by the day ever since. They have exposed themselves for the anti-Americans (openly wishing for less freedom, more division, more poverty, more hardship, and more war at the expense of the American people) that they really are. The masks have come off. They have exposed themselves as enemies of freedom, prosperity, and the American people. They are traitors.

So, while I don't agree with our President on every issues he opines on, I DO agree with him on this one. News ratings and subscriptions have plummeted for reasons that go way, way, way beyond just the interwebs. Those dips are far more driven by the lack of credibility that they have earned over the course of the past several decades. One would think they would be more introspective and try to address those issues. Instead they have doubled down on their efforts. And they have done so at their own peril ...

Considering that the law in the US has been the same for a very long time, let me ask you again: how is this, in any way, the road to fascism? Oops, I mean how is it the road to fascism if we remove the gateway to socialism that is...

I'm not defending your target, just lambasting your statement. The US has for a long time demonstrated some of the most fascist and amoral behaviors.

For example our sneaky decision to start the drug war, create for profit prisons, and reinstate the new form of legal slavery under a different guise that hides under the umbrella of "protecting us" from those dangerous pot heads.

And of course all of that is the blame of Donald Trump. If not, WTF are you talking about?

It's not Donald's fault, your statement is just likewise as stupid is all. I agree with you it's not Donald's fault, but to say the US is as far from Fascism as possible is likewise absurd. Donald isn't leading us to Fascism because we are already well on our way long before he came along.

What is your point in this thread then, really? If the US is ever closer to fascism, I beg you to look to Eastern Europe, South America, large parts of Asia first.

I just responded to your stupid quip, my bad, duly noted.

So the definition of fascism is imprisonment then? Nothing to do with an overwhelming criminal problem due to massive conglomerations in cities that have resulted in petty crime becoming the only crime the police can possibly prosecute?

Okay.

Edit> That's not fascism, that's a lack of investment.

I absolutely don't enjoy the fruits of slave labor, but I will call a spade a spade.

I have been saying for over a year that the liberal fake news media is a danger to America. They are domestic terrorists masquerading as media people.

When are you going to do something to stop or punish them president Trump? You have the entire power of the government available to put the screws to them in ways they cannot even imagine.

This sounds awfully authoritarian.

Not really when you look at who owns the news corporations themselves. You find their banker owners have their own agendas and use their 'owned' news outlet to downplay anything that skews their monetary interests.

To many people think that it could not possibly be the very media operated within the country adding to the bad in the world when in actual fact they are creating home bred delusion. If you think that Donald trump is on some mad trip, well then youve been double dooped.

The world is run by money, that is all that matters. Everything you see other then your own hands and feet are illusions set up to spend your money, grind you down and generate corporate slaves to fight with them.

That’s a bit of a misleading shock title don’t ya think? He’s been at war with the media since he started running for President.

“We must fight fake news!”
Fighting fake news is the new pretext given by the ruling to enact censorship.....
Free speech is also being eroded by the equally vague concepts of terrorism and hate speech.
Narrowing the “allowable”, “permissible” or even “legal” range of thought … censorship and perception management.

There is hardly a clear and widely-agreed upon definition for the phrase.

such terms —"Fake News" which, by design, mean whatever the powerful groups wielding them want them to mean — so often produce censorship in the name of combatting them.

National security, war on terror, terrorism, hate speech and fake news – it pretty much allows the government to do anything it wants to you

Silencing truth is bad. Allowing fabricated stories to further an agenda needs prosecution.

As long as humans have had free will and the ability to speak or write, there has always been the possibility of people lying, omitting, distorting or making false claims. It’s part of being alive to develop your discernment and work out what is true or false.

Never allow government to pretend it can do this, for the result will always be that the ruling class filters out what its doesn’t want you to know out of self-interest and a desire for more power and control.
