Democrats Turn to Hollywood for Messaging Help

So, after losing middle America because they've gotten so out of touch, their new strategy is to get advice from Hollywood, the most sheltered and out of touch people in the country? Honestly, at this point, if I were a Democrat I would be convinced that our leadership had been infiltrated by Republican double agents.

Part of it does make at least some sense:

“We’re a messaging strike force, mostly around voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts,” said Mathew Littman, a former Joe Biden speechwriter who helped to organize the group with Stephanie Daily Smith, a political consultant based in Los Angeles.

That part seems more reasonable. Who better than the Hollywood extremists to go fire up the other extremists in the far-left base to make sure they register and turn out on election day? But that alone isn't going to win you an election. It's not like Hillary's campaign had no ground game.

The group is primarily focused on programs to increase voter registration, and the DNC’s involvement is limited to that effort. Participants say they are developing programs targeting young people, black voters and Puerto Ricans displaced by Hurricane Maria — a potentially significant voting bloc for the Democratic Party in Florida and other key states.

No surprise here, redouble your focus on identity politics, which is a loser with mainstream America.

This is where it really goes off the rails:

In one recent meeting, a Midwestern senator sought advice about how to discuss gun control with conservative-leaning voters in his or her state, multiple participants said.

Do they honestly think sheltered gun control nuts in LA are gonna help them develop a message that resonates with pro-gun voters in rural America?

As bad as our two-party system is, having a one-party system would be even worse. I encourage everyone to reach out to their liberal friends and family and get them to realize this doubling down on the same crap that lost them 2016 is a losing strategy for their party.

What I was saying was that the two-party system sucks, but if these idiots keep this up and destroy the Democratic party it will be even worse having only one major party. The current Democratic platform is unrecognizable to classical liberals. They're driving it into the ground. I'm a libertarian, so I'd like to see both of the big two split up and see Americans have more viable choices. If it were up to me I'd abolish party labels altogether so people actually had to do some research and get to know the candidates and the issues before they make up their minds who to vote for instead of just checking what letter is after their name.

The entitlement of these "actors" is just mind blowing. How do you think they would respond if every place of business they went they had to listen to the employees personal perspective before they could finish a transaction. The blatant hypocrisy of Hollywood is overwhelming. When you do your job, if you have any integrity you leave your personal biases at the door.

Remember Leonardo DiCaprio and his global warming warnings at award shows. All the while he is traveling on private planes and huge yachts. And George Clooney pushing for immigration in the EU, while his mansions sit empty. Do you think old Robert DiNiro minds the tax breaks he got from Trump, do you think he is refusing to take them?

The entitlement is so ingrained that they feel whatever they are preaching is for the average Joe, not them.

I live in rural America. We know rural America doesnt count.

In a very few short years, the demographics of the US will mean that the US will be a Majority-Minority nation., The largest minority majority will be Hispanic and they will be mainstream America and they fully embrace identity politics.

I sometimes wonder if the Leftist White Elites that control the Democrat party really understand any of this. Their days are surely numbered at this point.

I really think there is something either with the SAG or some other organization in general that forces the actors to be extreme left.

I have a couple buddies in the SAG here in Atlanta. They aren't big names but have been in some big shows and movies. Even when they are out of work they oddly have the time to literally post something on social media every hour about how bad Trump is.

Dont really get it and dont care to. My guess is that they are never going to be big name actors and as such dont want to be blacklisted for not getting on the train.

If ATS is to be any kind of gauge, the Democrats here (mostly) are hoping something of their former party comes to fruition.

Well, to be honest, Hollywood is the best place to turn to if you want deceivers, they make up stuff everyday. They are great at making people believe, at least temporarily, in things that are not real. So what better place to look to get help to trick people into voting for your political party.

Look at Reagan, he was an actor who was acting out a part in movies and in the White House. Same with Trump, although nobody initially believes Trump even if he is telling the truth because of the kind of show he was on.

I guess the Democrats need help with deceiving people better to try to get back in power.

That is not what that quote you posted said. It said they are looking for advice as to how to discuss the issue with conservatives. It did not say they were trying to develop a message that resonated with pro-gun types.

That is a very important distinction and I can see the value is such advice.

The pro-2nd crowd is very difficult to talk to, even for pro-2nd people such as myself that try to separate the constitutional right from the Left-Right BS.

Y'all thought it was a good idea to select a person under a criminal investigation to represent you. Who made up being under sniper fire , out did trump on every scandal, cheated to win its own party election, and whos husband showed his prowress with women by showing them where to hold cigars.

The left had little to offer and lost .They have nothing again and will not win . The only direction the left has to move is to the left .They will not take all liberals off the cliff with them though . But it will be a long time before they have enough control of politics if ever to have a voice that matters . In Canada it became very clear with a raised eye brow that the clock is ticky tocking for the left .
