Are you asking about what's the worst that could happen at the summit meeting going on now, or just in general?

trump agrees to a plan that brings N. Korea up to par with the rest of the world and out of the dark ages in preparation for korean reunification....
of which the US taxpayers foot the bill for... and a trump tower is built in every semi-major city in korea...
and of course, the more modern No. Korea breaks the promises of ending their nuclear program and instituting a more democratic form of government.

and n.k isnt iraq they have serious underground fortresses that conventional weapons won't touch RNEP was made for a reason.

Actual peace struck, where otherwise decades of trivial chest pounding and rutt strutting as usual would have continued.

Two Party Politick MSM talking heads & politicians begin committing suicide in droves, many on live TV, triggering a mass suicide event in the US with a death toll in the millions.

Primarily lead by everyday Neocon's, all those dolts who for ever rabble roused online like total jackasses that swallowed hook line and sinker all that MSM politrick BS propaganda, they had staked so much of their online reputations so much of their own personal sanity into the farce that objects like North Korea or Iran could possibly be a "threat" to US, that their collective heads exploded when in one instant it all came crashing down in earnest.

Any form of nuclear action, or actions which could lead to a nuclear action, would be the worst case scenario. It does not matter who the target would be, whether it would be a pre-emptive strike on or by North Korea, and it would not matter at that point who performed the strike, whether it would be China or America, because either way, any form of nuclear assault would be quite simply barbaric.

It was one thing to drop one nuclear warhead, a travesty to drop a second. But enough time has passed now for everyone of any education at all, to understand that to utilise a nuclear armament in this day and age, would automatically, in the eyes of the population of this planet in the main, be a war crime.

It would also be an ecological disaster, as well as a nought to supersonic speed humanitarian crisis, and well down the list of concerns after that, a prelude to a nuclear war, which would be as good as saying "Thats all folks" at the end of a cartoon show. The human races remains after such a thing, would only be capable of creating for themselves a society which insults the word by describing itself as one.

I sense a possibly big WIN/Win situation here. If Kim Jong Un decides to DISMANTLE his rockets and place them under UN inspectors, this may appease President Trump and party as a form of DENUCLEARIZATION. If those components such as guidance systems (for example) are sent to South Korea for storage, this will set up a platform for cooperative unification of both Koreas.
A MASSIVE celebration will probably ensue where everyone ( including Dennis) will party hardy and "Peace and Safety" will be the cry heard round the world. But, of course I think we all pretty much knows what comes after that right?!!

I would surmise that Kim does not have many options. His forces are not well fed. And it is very difficult to March on an empty stomach.

I doubt he has a lot of that very important commodity: patrol, to go for a quick win and keep it.

Then comes the war material itself. He may have a few rockets.... But that does not mean he can effectively use it.

The of course is the problem of his suddenly collapsed nuclear programm.

At best he can hope for a quick win, but not keep it.
But, if he goes south... my guess is, there will be a gargantuan flow of refugees going up north.
And China does not want that.

Things are not going smoothly, the talks have almost completely fallen apart. Once both leaders were on their way, North Korea pulled out (copying Trumps attempted G7 power play) and said they would be leaving earlier. To which Trump responded that the US would be leaving even earlier than that.

The whole thing is sound and fury, signifying nothing... other than the fact that North Korea now gets to brag about their elevated diplomatic status, without having given up anything.

Putting aside that this won't happen, it's not actually possible to happen. Dismantling nuclear weapons and verifying it would take a decade. US foreign policy is too unstable right now for North Korea to commit to that. In fact, due to recent actions with US foreign policy being unreliable, the US is likely incapable of striking any long term deal with any nation and North Korea will not give up nukes for a short term deal.

Non proliferation has failed as an idea. Every nation that has abandoned nuclear weapon research or given them up has been destabilized, attacked, or gone through regime change as a direct result.

Getting NK to give up nukes is basically a non starter. What we may be able to do is get them to stop development on missiles with the range to hit the continental US, and help elevate them to being a larger regional power. But that move would irritate China, Japan, South Korea, and others.

He likely has between 30 and 50 nuclear weapons right now and is less than 24 months away from having missiles capable of reaching the continental US.

Im mean north korea using nukes at the beginning rather than as a standoff weapon after they start losing. They could open with strikes that crippled the supply chain of the pacific fleet and make their fight easier, rather than saving them and risk losing control of them. Heck, could even do a half now half later thing.

Assuming the summit doesnt work out, whats the worst specific thing that could plausibly happen

The worst thing would be if NK pisses off China some how and China obliterates them just to stretch their very very unused Military..to shake out the bugs if you will.....every now and then a Superpower must stretch and exert its influences ...it is what it is...I just hope we don't see China get riled up and begin to move....that is one big animal and whenever it moves things get crushed that are simply in the wrong place at the wrong times.....

Imagine, if after a war that killed one out of four north koreans,a 50 year standoff and threats of nuclear war, north korea became another nuclear armed U.S. ally on the border of russia and china. Is there mandarin characters for FML? Xi Jinping would need to create them.

Nice thinking there bud.. i chuckled

The worst specific thing is that one leader attempts to assassinate the other during their meeting, this opens up tensions, and we get into a nuclear war with China backing NK in the chaos, no matter who started it.

If a faction eliminated Donald Trump i see no way to spin it that doesn't lead to war.
If a faction eliminated Kim Jong Un i see who or whatever takes over north korea spinning it to their benifit maybe and becoming a puppet of some country.
Thats pretty bad

A lot of disinformation floats around about NK and their military capabilities. Their military is antiquated, poorly maintained, and most of them are malnourished and poorly equipped. The usual line about them wiping out Seoul isn't true. Most of their artillery can't reach Seoul, and the pieces that can reach can only reach the less populated outskirts.

Here's a good piece to read for anyone who wants a dispassionate strategic analysis:

worldview.stratfor.com...

This is a pay site, but they let you read a piece for free.

For those worried about them nuking us or our allies, they can't yet. Yes they have nuclear weapons, but they have no usable delivery system yet. They've yet to demonstrate that they can get a warhead to survive re-entry on a missile, so that method of delivery is not viable yet. The other primary method to deliver one is by aircraft. They don't have any stealth aircraft, and their air force is old and obsolete. There is no realistic scenario where they could successfully fly a bomber to Seoul or Tokyo, let alone Guam or the US, to drop a nuclear bomb. We were able to do this in Japan in WW2 because we had established air superiority over their territory. North Korea's air force is no match for ours augmented by SK and Japan's defense forces.

"North Korea: whats the worst that could happen?"

For cnn and the left the worst that can happen is peace between nk and sk and a trump relection.

For the world same as always. Lil kim will continue talking smack and the world and politicians will use that crisis to sell more weapons for the MIC.

Truth. For them it's party over country, even over world peace.
