Not now, as you see it.

But you will be one soon, very soon.

It is your destiny.

Haha the girl at the bank had gorgeous nails, only a caveman wouldn't have noticed!

Some us hate those stupid painted nails and watching people try to function like a cripple because of them.
Seems to me most compliments are about looks and generally fake things. My love wears zero makeup none of the stupid paint.
I complement People on doing a good job on being good People. Kindness does not have to focus on outsides.

To much focus on looks in this world.

I do as well, besides the compliments on clothing or jewelry or cute shoes etc. Kindness can be shown in various ways. To appreciate one for the person they are inside is the highest compliment.

I spend a decent amount of time on my nails, I do them myself, I have fun with them as a canvas on which I get to express myself. When someone compliments me on my nails it makes me beam, because they are my creation.

Same with my hair- having recently developed waves and curls and learning how to properly care for it, when another woman (and so far it’s only been women) tells me it looks nice- it makes me proud.

Yes, we should value things other than appearances, but it’s ok to appreciate the work that someone puts into themselves (or others).

I understand how you feel, but the world is too full of body and clothing interest. It has made people more greedy and shallow, self-center and selfish. People spend hundreds for their hair or nails while others can't even eat.
I guess it is because we don't feel a part of these things. There is a reason that he tells us these things below. Where you place your pride and your feelings is where your heart is. If your heart is in the things of this world it is not in a good place.

John 18:36 Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world.
1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
1 Peter 3:3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.

Ooh, this was a genuine loving fellow humans thread and you give it the grumpy one when I've already said I don't talk to young girls. Why mate? Are you in a grump about something else?

I agree. I do my own hair and rarely cut it. I do my own nails and shop at second hand stores sometimes for clothing and stuff. My makeup is from cheap discount stores or the many samples my Sister gives to me that she gets all the time. I admit to enjoying material things though, but I remember all the years that I went without and sacrificed. I also donate money, food, and many other things to the poor. I guess there is a balance in there somewhere.

I definitely understand the not taking compliments well, kinda puts you on the spot doesn't it?

I find giving them a lot easier... I think it's an awareness thing, we're all empathic really it's just we're human. We forget birthdays or don't notice new haircut's.

It's nice to be noticed, nice to notice. Kindness doesn't kill.

Good point.

Compliments shouldn't just be about the superficial stuff or what's on the surface, it's first impressions though isn't it?

It's not like we spend 25 minutes with everyone we meet on a day to day basis. There's too much focus on time IMHO.

Being canny needn't be seedy, being formal is good manners, being informal can come from honesty. Not always though.
