Here's another view of it as seen from China.

I really don't think the same meteor could be seen both from Africa and China, the distances and the curvature of the Earth are just too great.

Taurid meteor swarm

They believe that there is danger of one these asteroids striking the earth and causing immense damage where it hits

Greatest danger is in the next few years

That's some pretty good doom porn right there! I like it!

For comparison, the Chelyabinsk meteor was only 20 meters in diameter. So these hidden asteroids are 10 to 15 times larger than that one.

But it seems to me that Comet Encke, the source of these co-called doomsday asteroids, has been hurtling around the inner solar system at 3.3 year cycles for several centuries. I would think that we should have run into one of these big asteroids at least once in that period of time. However given that 78% of the Earth's surface is covered in water, it could have occurred over the ocean and never be detected by our civilization prior to our currently more technological advanced state.
