Rugby World Cup 1995 - All Blacks poisoned?

The 1995 Rugby World Cup was an iconic moment for South Africa, a nation-building spectacle, a boost to our former President Nelson Mandela, and the topic of at least one Hollywood movie.

But was it all a sham?

Were the All Blacks (from New Zealand) deliberately food-poisoned?

The rumors were there at the time, but then forgotten.
But recently they have resurfaced.

What do rugby fans think?
Who would do such a thing?
Is it even plausible?

Some say bookies, but others think it was political, to make SA (then the flavor of the era) look good.

I thnk it got narrowed down to a waitress called Suzie who poisoned the team the ate the dinner. The players who weren't at the dinner didn't get sick.
SA only just won too so if the all blacks weren't poisioned would have been a different story

But incidentally, in South Africa whites are 4 million out of 50-60 million people. It is historically true that many South Africans supported the All Blacks over the Springboks, but things have been moving along.

In fact, the Captain of our national Springbok team (Siya Kolisi) is black.

It's a bit of an open secret that that All Blacks were poisoned before the final, thus allowing the Springboks to win. The rest, as they say, is history. Nelson Mandela used the occasion to help South Africa's emergence from apartheid, so it was done for a good purpose!!!

The question is really... Would the All Blacks have won if they were not feeling so off colour. I don't know. Rugby's that sort of game.
