Wanda Sykes wasn't the one who was referred to as the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes, though. Furthermore, she's a lowly writer, not the boss of the show or network, so the comparison seems... odd.

Not really. johnaugust.com... consulting producer in TV is a high level show writer who is not a showrunner. In other words, she was a "lowly writer."

Planet Of The Apes is a metaphor for the Communist and radical Islamist policies of Valerie Jarret, a political view of the world as they envision it.
