This just means that comedians cannot say edgy or controversial things now.

If you're smart and want to keep your job.

Yeah, just do as your told, toe the line, behave, conform, obey.

Yep if you want to keep your job. Try calling your boss names and see what happens.

The ape thing pisses me off. We are all apes.

So you would have no problem being caged in a Zoo ?

I can't wait for all the other actors'/actresses' shows to be cancelled who have said racist things about Trump.

I won't be holding my breath.

Nah man, you know me, I'm consistent. These types of tweets don't bother me and I see this as a gross overreaction and exercise in pandering by ABC. Trump and politics have nothing to do with it.

Eh, I though her statement could have been racist.

Here was her tweet.

"Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj."

VJ being valerie jarrett

Not sure I see the correlation to racism on that? isn't VJ white?

VJ is Iranian.
What color is an Iranian?

Hence the Arab + Black comment.

How do we know she wasn't referring to Iran, itself, as Planet of the Apes?

Are all Iranians (or Arabs) members of the Muslim Brotherhood?
Who is it that is actually connecting the words "Planet Of The Apes" to any particular race?

Because it is known that "monkeys" and "apes" as pejorative refer to black people. Obama and Michelle get called that all the time.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that there's folks on ATS who don't understand why calling a black person an ape is staggeringly offensively racist and an instant sacking offense for pretty much anybody. But still, it's pretty depressing.

This place is basically 4chan now isn't it.

Super Duper bs

I have stated my beliefs on ats for years and they include the belief that we are all tied to the plant and animal realms via dna and the sub conscious.

The only reason anyone is offended by any of this is because someone else wants them to be.

Being an ape is not a bad thing and no one should get bent out of shape because they have an animal spirit and a plant soul.

I was hoping for a Chappelle reboot one day. He'd never survive.

I've seen some of his new stand up...it's kinda sad to watch.

I haven't seen any Orange hate.
HOW could anyone say racist # about Trump? Jeez. Logic need not apply here.

The fuss ( as far as the network ) is simply about the almighty advertising dollar.

Sponsors would drop like flies, so the network saved them the trouble.

Holy crap!

She does indeed look like a freakin monkey.

She looks exactly like the actress that was in the one with mark walburg.

I am not so sure this was intended as racist.

Having seen photos of valerie jarrett, she may have been commenting on her ohysical features as an individual saying she looked like one of the planet of the ape characters, not meaning her race.

However, lets not be ignorant. We know people have used ape and monkey references in a deragatory manner toward black people.

You cn argue that shouldnt matter, but the truth is it does to a company like ABC and many others.

They saw her comments, and decided it was too much for them and would hurt their company (probably lead to other cast members quiting, boycotts, etc.) and made the decision based on that to cancel the show.

Roseanne should have been smarter and no matter how she met the comments to be taken, should have known how they would be taken.

LOL

And this highlights the problem.

Making fun of a black persons appearance is automatically assumed racist in many instances.

yet the same joke being made to a white person is considered funny and not racist.

You want me to post possible racist comments toward "white" people?

Are you serious?
