I have an absolute loathing for my government.

I also believe that holding views like those of Tommy (which is not his name), should be grounds for exile from these lands. These lands were fought for by people who opposed his sort of gutter thinking, people like my grandfathers. They bayoneted and shot people like Robinson, and were right to do so. It is an insult to their efforts on behalf of this nation, to permit his toxic presence to continue.

Former English Defence League (EDL) leader Tommy Robinson has been jailed for potentially prejudicing a court case, it can be reported. Robinson, who appeared in the dock under real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was arrested in Leeds on Friday. The 35-year-old was broadcasting on social media outside the city's crown court where a trial was ongoing. A ban on reporting his 13-month sentence at the same court was lifted after being challenged by the media.

They must, like those in North Korea, they're powerless before the police state. The horror of admitting the vast propaganda of their cherished nanny state is wrong, is disinformation, is something that will be very difficult for them to accept.

Sorting out the facts from the fiction is tough. Deception has been part of the jungle on Earth for millions of years. These things do not change anytime soon. Looking at things in shades of gray rather than black or white helps. A few things we can be sure about, safe travels through the sea of maybes.

He was initially given his suspended sentence for contempt of court after his 'reporting' had direct influence in the collapse of a previous trial, meaning that 4 possible rapists were allowed to walk free on a technicality. He received a court order to stop him doing the same again at a future trial, and he was subsequently arrested for breach of that order.

Wether you believe it is a free speech thing or your view on racial issues is not relevant. He breached the conditions of his suspended license, and was nicked for it. He has a potted history of various criminal offences and has demonstrated that he shows no remorse for his initial offence which increase the risk of re-offending, hence a custodial sentence.

I really don't know what the issue is.

Is this the case you are referring to Paddy. He did blunder around a bit and was subsequently arrested / The Trial did NOT collapse..

The quartet were subsequently convicted of the gang rape which took place in a “grubby room” and were jailed for a total of more than 50 years. Their behaviour involved some of the most depraved sexual abuse imaginable.

A fifth man was also later convicted. His name was Tommy Robinson, but he appeared at court under his real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. On May 26 of last year, he appeared before Canterbury’s leading judge Heather Norton and admitted being in contempt of court as result of his earlier visit to Canterbury. Judge Norton told him: “This is not about free speech, not about the freedom of the Press, nor about legitimate journalism, and not about political correctness.

“It is about justice and ensuring that a trial can be carried out justly and fairly. It’s about being innocent until proven guilty. “It is about preserving the integrity of the jury to continue without people being intimidated or being affected by irresponsible and inaccurate reporting, if that’s what it was.” Robinson was was given a three-year jail sentence suspended for 18 months.

Just catching up here and have an honest question,

How does one collapse a previous trial or influence an ongoing trial from OUTSIDE a courtroom.

Here in U.S. outside antics, protests, general mayhem, and reporting right, wrong or otherwise seem to have little bearing on what goes on INSIDE a courtroom.

Ah right. My mistake, I thought the trial collapsed. However the fact is he jeopardized the trial, which is the main point. His suspended sentence was to prevent it happening again and he has been jailed for breaching that.

Have a star for correcting me.

Seems to be fairly knowledgeable and level-headed, far more so than people on this thread parroting left-wing media stereotypes and suggesting he should be exiled or killed.

88.000 have signed a petition to free Tommy

The petition is now close to half a million.
I'd suggest that Tommy Robinson is going to become a far bigger voice because of this.

This... if they had been patient and if he was as big a hardcore racist as he is painted as all they had to do was wait and he would have broken a serious law eventually and then they could wipe his voice from the scene.

Instead they over reacted, got him on a law that most people consider fairly sketchy and if he acts remotly reasonable in the next few months the number of people this guy will reach is going to sky rocket.

So unless people like Brit get their wish and someone snuffs him, this guys foot print is going to sky rocket in the coming months.

In the UK theres reporting restrictions to ensure a fair trial : www.judiciary.gov.uk...

Several laws were broken - filming a child victim in a sex offense case. Under CYPPA 1933 its illegal to report any details that may identity a child victim.

Breach of court order restricting publication of images of one or more defendant because doing so would compromise another (upcoming) trial.

Breach of broadcast law via proximity, being off court premises means 20ft away. Also trying to interview the defendants and also referring to them as guilty major risk of prejudicing the jury. Which could comprimise this trial.

Breach of suspended sentence as he'd committed the same offense a few months back.

Wait a second, all this guy did was talk and film outside of a courthouse? Then he was arrested for contempt of court?

And people are supporting his arrest?

Wow.

So if this is the case, all court appearances and arrivals should be completely secret. Some type of underground structure where they are brought in with unmarked, secured vehicles and then go into court with no interaction and no visibility outside of the court structure.

Don't forget they should have black hoods placed over their heads & faces while being escorted from the unmarked vehicles into the secret courthouse.

I think you should also be imprisoned for 13 months due to your spreading and posting of clear hateful rhetoric and propaganda.

These lands were fought for by people who opposed such fascist and Nazi policy such as locking someone up due to difference of opinion.

You clearly traffic in hate.

That encompasses his errors in a nutshell. Doing the dirty work on behalf of Jews. He's that shallow he seeks the back up of the prime bigots of this world rather than seek to serve his country. Israels bitch. He doesn't truly care about Britain, he just hates Muslims so much he allies with the last apartheid ,racial supremacist state. Those who support the invasion of Europe.
See the message but kill the messenger.

There has been much hysteria surrounding the Tommy Robinson imprisonment. Myself included, I jumped to the wrong conclusions. I thought this was an attack on his freedom of speech, and worse. But now, I have had time to think about this, I looked at this rationally and my mind has changed.

Robinson was sentenced for 3 months for breaching the terms of a suspended sentence he was currently serving. He was convicted for contempt of court, he was attempting to film the defendants during the trial. He was told he would go to prison if he did it again. He did do it again. This is why he went straight to prison, after admitting his guilt, and received an additional 10 months for his latest offence.

There have been numerous cases where this nature of contempt of court has led to trials collapsing, and paedophiles walking free as a result. So, with this in mind, is the way Robinson has been dealt with actually tyrannical, or is it simply removing an obstacle to due process and the law being able to be enforced with a properly working judicial system?

A lot of people are complaining about the lack of free speech in the UK and the tyrannical nature of the law enforcement and government. They may have a cause for concern with the way things are heading, but is this case really relevant? I wonder how they would feel if either they or their loved ones were victims of crimes, and the trial collapsed because of actions similar to those of Robinson's? If we want justice, we must let the justice system operate without prejudice.

I don't think his sentence was unduly harsh or unfair. He had been warned of the consequences of his actions, both for himself, and for the outcome of the trials he is interfering in. He ignored those warnings, and is now paying the price. You cannot blame Islam, or the lack of free speech, or political motives for any of this situation. The only person to blame is Tommy Robinson.

The judge convicted Tommy Robinson without regard for his suspended sentence.
He made it clear the sentence was stand alone. So there goes that argument in support of the punishment handed down - 13 months for live streaming oneself outside a courtroom on a public road.

Robinson is a political prisoner, plain and simple.
