I was bullied in school. Usually picked on by the outcast. I was taller and fatter than my classmates. The bully would figure he could take out "the
fatso" without too much effort, and get respect from the group. I got beaten up until I learned to use my size to advantage, AND a "20 second beat
down" where you inflict maximum pain without visible wounds, before teacher arrives. I might have a bloody nose, but the other guy would have a limp
for weeks after.
Junior high was like a prison. I learned to fight, and take my punishments.
Most of the guys who picked on me would be possible "active shooters" today. Ignored by parents, They had no coping skills and no tolerance for other
kids belittling them etc. they looked for someone weaker or some way to dominate others.
There were probably a few "code red" incidents when no teachers were around. I taught some people about manners and boundaries. It takes a village.
Nowadays the kids cannot teach anyone a lesson. So the shooter never learns....
