I live about 20 minutes outside of Boulder.

The premise for this is to prevent school shootings/mass casualty shootings. Feel good measures for the ignorant, in essence. I expect one to happen there in the near future now.

It really is a liberal-leftist banana republic of fruits, nuts, and flakes. The housing market is in the top 10 most expensive places to buy a home in the USA, as well, with most homes going for close to $1 million. Lotta California people moving there.

What really gets a lot of people frustrated is this is the city council banning things. It is essentially a by-law. Kind'a like "you can't let your grass grow over 3 inches.." type thing.

I expect the RMGO (the Local gun-rights group for the Utah, Wyoming, CO, NM, etc area) joined with the NRA-ILA to have these idiots for lunch. Boulder has a pretty high NRA membership.

On a fun side note, the councilwoman who brought this forward is a real-estate agent in Boulder and has been pushing re-zoning of places for more upscale homes. Waiting for someone to find dirty skeletons in her closet.

Will cops still have them?

Yes, their ordnance is exempted from the ordinance.

Very very cagey this:

The council did, however, extend an olive branch to gun owners in the form of a grandfather clause: residents already in possession of assault weapons will have until the end of the year to receive a certificate proving prior ownership. At that point, all firearm owners who have proven that they owned their assault weapons prior to the passage of the new ban will be permitted to keep them. Only the purchase of new assault weapons is prohibited for Boulder residents who are not members of law enforcement, government officers or military personnel.

That's how they get to "gun registration".

Sounds to me like people in Bolder need to form a militia to protect the citizens from mass invasions of dangerous wildlife that may be in the area. Show a membership card to make it official and somewhat governmentally sound. Thus they become government officials by default, since they can be called upon to deal with said wildlife, should the need arise and the council/mayor calls them into action.

Their insignia patch could be a tree trunk surrounded by a shrub to the left and two shrubs to the right. Accompanying similar hand gesture for quick identification is optional of course.

America is a fascist dictatorship now and gun owners didn't stop it, they helped create it.

You don't say. So the law only applies to civilians.

So all the more reason to give up your constitutional rights...to the same government?

ETA: To emphasize the point, you believe that the US is a complete fascist dictatorship which means that at any time they can, by your logic, stop, detain, convict and sentence all in one fell swoop, without recourse. Your solution is to be happy that they are restricting legal firearms to law abiding citizens and giving up your absolute right to own one to that very same government.

......makes sense......

Still waiting on a definition of what an Assault Rifle is... only one leftist on these boards has dared to try and define it, the rest just ignore the question because they don't have an answer.
