Maybe that is what you misunderstand: We all know socialism has been creeping in to America for the last 100+ years. But what you fail to realize it that we do not like it that way. That is not how America was founded. Those are not the ideals that proppelled this nation to create, invent, and become a world everyone dreamed of coming to, to have a chance at making a better life for their families.

I forget...was slavery a commie thing or socialist?

It was a Roman thing then a Caliphate thing then a colonialist thing. It made its rounds till Americans got rid of it.

countless Hillary Clinton investigations we sat through during Obama's Presidency.

Krazy, as much as I dislike Hillary, the bulk majority of those investigations were probably political. Whether she did something wrong or not, the impetus for those investigations were surely political. And I'm certain you see it that way as well. I know I do.

Just as I see the investigations against Trump (based mostly on rumor and MSM click-bait reporting) as political. Whether there is some crime from X years ago is irrelevant to me when the impetus for the investigation is revenge/political.

You may not like Socialism or Communism, but a Socialist or a Communist is every bit as American as you are.

You're off the deep end KrazySh0t. That is absolutely the most absurd statement I've ever read on ATS. I'll add too, it's just plain ignorant if you believe it!

Maybe socialism and communism didn't exist at the time of the founding of America but you can be assured the tyranny of a king was very close to those ideals. Why did people leave England? They didn't want to be under the thumb of government. They wanted freedom.

Just imagine if we were all living in a communist country now, we wouldn't even be allowed to have this conversation. It would be censored or you'd be arrested.

Go to China.

since the OP is based on an opinion piece, here is mine. If you actively wish for the failure of the leader of the US and you live in the US, you are an idiot and unAmerican. It's cool to not like the guy, I didn't like Obama, and still don't, but when he was in charge of the US, I didn't want to see him fail, since well, that would mean I failed as well, and my life would not be as good, had he not failed.

The (insert whatever name you want to call those who wish for Trump to fail) need to find a new hobby, or perhaps move to a more hospitable place. Again, IMHO.

We do have the right to label things "traitorous" or "unamerican" but the real question is whether or not it is helpful to the current #show we've found ourselves in.

I say again, many in this country apparently don't realize just how deep that precipice we're standing next to is

I don't know about you, but compromising sounds a hell of a lot more reasonable than the inevitable violence and destruction that failing to resolve our differences historically comes with. Just look at dozens of other nations around the world for an example

So what makes them more American than someone on the left espousing their ideals?

Nothing. We are all equally American. That is the point of the thread.

No , not when one Group Espouses Chaos from Order . In this case , a Direct Seditious Attack on a Democratic Republic Ruled by Laws ....

Same goes for libertarianism/nationalism. Those two sum up my personal beliefs, to a degree.

In your opinion, does that make ME less of an American? Do you believe our two ideologies are diametrically opposed to one-another, or that there is always room to compromise regardless of how different our beliefs may be?

I believe in compromise. And not compromising on the issues that matter to us, but merely agreeing to disagree and leave one another's unalienable rights alone. This means pursuing whatever issues you care about, provided it doesn't infringe on my rights and vice versa.

There is nothing more American than that, if you ask me

You're snipping Me right? left?

We have given up how many "rights" since 9/11? I didn't blow anything up yet I have to wear sweats and flip flops to fly anywhere in the continental U.S. Great for a fat sweaty guy but not for Me.

Why did Afghanistan get invaded again? Why are We still there? Since "We" have been there their opium production has grown from 7% when TheTaliban™ was in-charge to 95% when NATO™ is watching things. Was any of that opium used to make Heroin and then sold/used on the streets of the U.S. I'd bet that a very LARGE portion of the aforementioned Hair-On has been abused by an OPIATE pain medication user that got 'cut off' by the same Dr. who started the script. Of course, this Dr. is beholden to BigPHarma™ and writes what BigPHarma™ wants to push.

How much $$$ has Haliburton™ made in Iraq just for 'concessions'?

Star for the irony, considering I've made this statement more than once

Sincerely, Olaru, what is the alternative to compromise? The way I see it, none of us have any real choice here.

I personally will never participate in murdering fellow Americans for any reason. I would defend my life if I had no other choice, but this civil war BS that is being pushed on all of us does not need to happen

Our country has weathered some serious threats: both foreign and domestic. From our independence, the original civil war, pearl harbor & both world wars and more modern conflicts.. why let some ridiculous political divisive rhetoric be the one thing that finally does us in as a nation

I think they call those war crimes and war criminals, JimNasium. The 9/11 fiasco resulted in extreme unprecedented challenges to our Constitutional rights.

Including the useless and unconstitutional patriot act and its ilk.

Well, until you realize many of the citizens there have ties to the ancient tribe of Judah...
Judah the patriarch or the district of Judah ? Which by the way came years after the Tower incident . They were not named in the table of nations in Genesis because they were created years after that .

Hmmm the problem is...socialism and individualistic capitalism are not these opposing forces everyone seems to think they are. You can't have a society without some level of socialism without it you're just a bunch of people living in the same area doing whatever the # you want. Countries have laws, taxes and social programs for a reason...this is what makes society.

The main problem seems to be no one can agree how much socialism is acceptable.

Personally....individualistic capitalism is fairly great to an extent...it allows for innovation and a good level of personal freedoms....but...I think America takes it too far...there really are things that benefit everyone in a society that everyone really should contribute to. Things like roadworks, bridges, public transportation, healthcare and generally the other things that benefit the whole of the society to have. It's idiotic to leave these things in the hands of private companies to make money off of. Not everything has to be an opportunity for profit. This is where I think America gets it wrong.

What kind of freedom do you really have if you have to pay tens of thousands of dollars for the smallest injury, when streets and roads are in shambles because the private contractor the city hired took the money and did a # job?

Having society contribute to these things ensures everyone can enjoy a higher level of freedom instead of just a few. Sure privatize the hell out of things...it's great...but honestly if you want some kind of reasonable long lasting society there needs to be some kind of public sector that is there to generally make society better.

You know me, I deal in irony and sarcasm.

You're right we have no other alternative. Americans are willing to compromise in the real world. ATS is just a bunch of trolls playing a silly game of "I won" "I won" deal with it. Flexing their cyber muscles and puffing out their internet chest like it means something!! believe me!!

Sorry for that

There is no real purpose to doing so. I think a lot are angry at the perception of politics invading our supposedly sacrosanct justice system. Even worse, most of us complaining now were entirely silent when it was being done to others

So where do we go from here?

I don't know. I've made arrangements to GTFO to Arruba if the shtf. I can see how it could blow up real big, real fast, if the economy goes south. Desperate people do desperate things.

SA is the buzz word eh?

Probably what the leaders of the fallen city state of Babylon thought - there can’t possibly be a threat from those we’ve allowed inside our borders who are different than us and have vastly different beliefs.

A quick challenge for this literary artist (and any progressives in this thread). Point out to me the word "Democracy" in the Constitution.

I'll be waiting... thanks.
