It looks like Muellers investigation is selectively leaking stuff to take off some pressure.

Actually, it looks like a third party subpoena.

Asked how he obtained it, Avenatti told DailyMail.com: 'I demanded it from Mr. Davidson.'

3rd party?

How does that work?

You can't bring a case before the court using 3rd party.

"Well this guy said he is guilty, your honor."

"OK! no #in problem!"

I was wrong.

The emails were not obtained through discovery. An article at ThinkProgress explains it:

thinkprogress.org...

When a lawyer has a client, the lawyer maintains a file on that client's case. Legally, the information in that case file belongs to the client. If the client goes to a new lawyer, the client has the right to take those files with him or her self. Before Avenatti was Stormy Daniel's lawyer, Keith Davidson was her lawyer. Avenatti demanded that Davidson hand over Daniels' files, and he complied. Because the files are Daniels' property, she (or her new lawyer) can make them public, if she wants to.
