May 7 (UPI) -- At least 84 people were shot in Chicago over the past week -- another surge in gun violence in the United States' third-largest city, which may have been brought on by warmer weather.

Of those wounded, nine died, and police said at least 41 people were shot over the weekend alone.

I saw no marches, no arm bands, no 24/7 news coverage on this.
Why?
Do people not care?
Are these people not important enough?

Or is it ok, cause it's just the way it's "suppose' to be?

I wish when the people that write these stories write something more in detail. Short stories like this does nothing but... who gives a fk type of attitude these days.

Your article doesn't take into account the 7th day, which is today, May 8th. You need to add today's shootings to your weekly total. About 5 hours left.

That being said, the 84 shootings for the first 6 days of May is ahead of last year, which averaged 68 shootings per week.

So another example of how when too many people are crowded into limited spaces over a hundred years ago, an example of how a major industry lied to so many many people in Europe promising good jobs and a land of plenty if the immigrated to America, and because of economic imbalances since that time we now find that the people who still live there are living in somewhat less than many of us would consider a civilized manner are we now to consider that there is a simple answer as to why there are these outbreaks of violence?

Very large race tag on the question. And all that goes with it. Cant look properly at this without understanding.

This is what 84 years of Democrat control looks like. California is following right behind and the middle class is fleeing the state en masse. Imagine if they controlled the country for this long.

its hard to be sympathetic to the same group of people in the same area since the late 70s...

It's a sad situation. Complex and beyond 24 hour news cycle political fixes.

It's better left a mess, it's easier to use for the parties in their rhetoric like immigration.

However often the kids aren't killed in school, they understand a gun free zone needs a perimeter and a guard to enforce it.
