There's no resolving anything when the last say doesn't come from reasoned consensus.

Excellent point -- well said -- and thank you for saying it!

I believe this is what's meant by "winning the peace." There is no peace when one side is forcing something on the other side. Or denying the other side something, which is basically lack or want by force; and both will only bring perpetual "war" -- never peace. One can win the battle with force, but one cannot win the peace with force.

Peace can only come when all parties are content.

Well said.

Thank you.

But I sure wish it wasn't necessary.

This only works if people are actually interested in solutions

Nothing works unless all parties are interested in solutions, regardless of the sphere in which one is thinking or acting.

it doesn't work if they like to keep the victim card.

...is the sort of thing you say when you have NO interest in solutions whatsoever.

Word to the wise here:

The status quo as it has been, as it is now, is unsustainable. It is not unsustainable because people play victim, it is not unsustainable because people are taking advantage of the situation. It is unsustainable because it is STILL the case that inequality is more common than equality, and until that is no longer the case, until stereotypes only exist in the mind of mankind as memories of his own folly, rather than actual boxes people STILL think it is appropriate to put others in, without any reference to their deeds, it will REMAIN unsustainable.

If you wanted solutions to that problem, which is the root of all other problems which even slightly have to do with this situation, you would not be more interested in denying people the right to feel victimised, when they are in fact being victimised. Its clear that solutions which involve healthy modifications to the status quo as it stands, are not something you are interested in. Unfortunately, that makes you part of the problem, not its solution.
