NASA's InSight lander will drill into the planet's surface to a depth of 16ft to measure the planet's temperature , detect wind speed at the
surface and deploy seismometers to detect Mars quakes in an effort to understand the core of the planet , this will be the first mission to study the
interior of the red planet.
Absolutely , if the will was there we'd have a bases on the Moon and Mars by now but bases don't keep the MIC wheels a turnin , war is good for
business.
I live in the coastal CA town very nearby. It was foggy as is usual here, but the rocket was a big one. Town is packed and hotels all booked. Lots of
local NASA pins and posters promoting it. Pretty cool to see something so global and beyond happen here locally. Now to play “gone til
