Whatever good that will come from the Korea's agreeing to cease hostilities. I can pretty much guarantee that dumb ass tRump has nothing to do with it.

Whenever I read your posts I immediately think of the autistic screecher caught on tape who simply couldn't come to terms with Nov 9th 2016 and the ensuing reality that burst its magic unicorn bubble..

Good point.

Given the need for power and control without the strong-arm tactics, I doubt that'll be given up easily.

There is a chance that all this grandstanding is a ploy to maintain it. Either way, Kim will remain in power and his people dirt poor and enslaved.

If North Korea the US and South Korea can come to an agreement economic sanctions could be lifted. That could go a long way in helping the North Korean people.

Would not invading new countries and destroying their entire society count as a peaceful action? Because the last winner failed to take that action. Our current POTUS is like the first in about ten presidents that has not invaded yet another country. I mean we still got like six and a half years to go I guess, but I feel confident Trump will do more to wind down existing operations than to gear up for new ones.

Please don't get me wrong I'm not anti Trump at all and what has been achieved so far by just having talks is immense.

The fact that an American president not invading a country is considered unusual and groundbreaking just shows what a messed up world we live in.

Truly well done Trump I hope at the end of his term he can keep that title, he should then be awarded the peace prize.

As others have already said his resposne that "peace is the prize" is brilliant and admirable... but threatening massive war does not equal a prize for peace.

America wouldn't be winning the peace prize...Trump would be and he has done more for peace than any President since the Korean War began. I know it would hurt, but what did Obama do to win it other than being born black?

At what point did I agree Obama should've gotten one either? Pretty sure I mentioned how zero us presidents really deserve one.

I just don't feel the leader of the biggest warmongering nation on the planet deserves one period. I mean how many wars are you still currently engaged in? Maybe if trump returned every single one of your soldiers to america and shut down America's foreign military bases I'd agree he deserves it but as the leader of your country he continues to perpetuate America's foreign occupation of other countries.

I think you all need to look up the definition of peace. I just feel like someone receiving the Nobel peace prize should have brought about peace in some way. Continuing wars is kinda the opposite of that.

Only market reform and the end of the socialist Juche ideology will help the North Korean people. I wager the lifting of sanctions will only help the leadership.

Unlike Obama, who oversaw the destruction of an additional three new nations during his reign, Trump has not actually initiated a single new campaign. He simply delegated to the military to finish what was started before him. On the flip side, it is thanks to Donald Trump that the North Korean leader finally had enough fear put into him to finally negotiate a peace settlement with their southern cousins.

It is for these reasons, I sincerely believe that Donal Trump is able to legitimately claim this award.

Really?? Sometimes I wonder if I live in the same world as other people.

I'm just not even gonna bother...what's the point?

Sometimes, I really wish I could be that delusional. I'd probably be happier.

I do suppose it would be a little disingenuous to assume that Kim would suddenly have a come to Jesus moment after some Twitter blows.

There is also a chance that there is more to these dealings that what is publicly known. Again, regardless, Kim in power doesn't bode well for the people of NoKo.

This may seem like a coincidence, and deserve its own thread maybe, but has anybody noticed our lack of forceful condemnation of China for putting missle defense systems in place in the South China Sea Islands? Seems odd.

And now North Korea is all of a sudden getting friendly with the USA.

Maybe China told NK to get real friendly, make Trump look like a hero, and in return no vigorous response from USA for China putting missle defense systems on disputed islands in South China Sea?

Just a thought.

Trump throws everything out there - - on all sides of an issue.

When he thinks something's gonna stick in his favor - - he zeroes in on it.

Odds are some things are gonna stick.

China doesn't want to see North Korea normalize relations with the US. Its simply not in thier intrests. China uses North Korea as a bargaining chip against the US. If China wants something they just have North Korea do something crazy. Then the US asks China for help. Then the US makes concessions for Chinese help with North Korea. So I see your point in the short term. But long term if North Korea gets Chumy with the US it could make things significantly harder for China to expand uncontested in the South China Sea.

To be honest even if these peace talks blow up. We are right back to where we were. And we can pressure China then. But for now I think the prospect for peace and denuclearization should be thouroughly exhausted.

They couldn't get a SINGLE Democrat to sign on to this - did they even ask anyone?

Nominating the head of your own party for something like this is ridiculous.

Donald Trump himself claims "What did I have to do with peace? Only EVERYTHING"

Er, South Korea, China, and Russia might all have something to say about that. Claiming 100% of the credit for peace w North Norea is typical snake oil salesman Donald Trump on full display.

He thinks a few days of name calling on twitter was enough to get Kim Jong Un to come to peace talks?

Er, Kim Jong Un himself might have a few things to say about that, and it remains to be seen if this is actually a real thing. If it isn't, Trump will have MASSIVE egg on his face.

The South Korean Prime Minister was the first one to suggest he deserves the Nobel peace prize. Not himself.
