Sure I'm up for that! The thing is if people lived that long the world population in 2200 would be like 999 zillion. If thats the case we need to find a nice big fat planet to take over.
I think though if we did live for so long maybe our people would mature enough to realize we shouldn't live to be 1000.

I dont know about the timeline, but it seems plausable, maybe not 1,000 with just theat technologies though.

What about for those of us who dont believe in an afterlife. Those that believe in life and nothing beyond. You know, the ones christians call cowards, even though they are the ones not afraid to accept absolute death like christians. In anycase, why would it be immature to want to hold on to your consciousness? What possible explanation do you have for saying that?

I really dont see a problem with it just limit the people that get this done to having 1 kid. Shoot we should be doing this anyway. I the child dies then they are open to have another one.

They are getting there they have made immortal human skin in a lap. The normal life spawn for human skin is 7 days. There is a sample that is lived in a lab for over 1 year. If the gene in that was used on every cell in the human body we would live for over 3,000 years baring injery or ilness.

See I'm all for living for 1,000 years + but really do we need a way to turn off the gene help on criminals. Lets say some guy gets convicted of murder and is sent to jail they give him gene tharapy and turn off his anti aging genes. So that he will age normaly because it would be unfare on people that did not have the treatment to have to wast most there there life wile a immortal just has to wait it out.

I would also institue screenings of people who get this done to them. Background checks and the like history of mental illness. Mental examinations and the like. Do we really want to make a person live for thousands of years but go crazy after 100?

Barring accidents, one may consider the 1000 year lifetime as elegant, since one will have ample time for self improvement, an education and cumulative experience beyond our current wildest dreams. One would consider this of course as conditional upon retaining all youthful prerogatives of blood circulation, and a disease free existence.

Given those conditions however, would you want to be alive during and after the 100 year senseless debt driven war that the NWO is planning? That experience no matter your physical and mental soundness, looks about as bad or worse than living on tubes in a coma.

Yes consider a very long lifetime, however not wishing for death as your environment and everything you hold dear crumbles. Since most of our anticivilization is death driven, and preoccupied with violence, a 1000 year lifetime does not appear desirable.

There is a double edged sword in the Japanese saying "Banzai," which means "may you live 10 thousand years." It could be a curse if you wish another 10 thousand years of misery, an exuse for living. On the other hand, in the delicate and wonderful aspects of life, and the wealth of understanding and ideals, it is a blessing.

Strange....It could happen I guess living for a 1000 years, but would we really want to ? cos our bodies would still grow old, could you imagine how bad we would be at the age of say 600 ? Plus we would have to watch many catasphoies....I dont know....

well without full body cosmetic surgery, I am not sure the human body can realistically endure 1000 years, let alone a few hundred.

on the other hand, this could give a whole new meaning to that joke about farting dust

Only a year or two ago, it was thought that we were genetically programed to live to an age between 120 to 150 years old. The present day "baby boomers" are expected to live that long. (There goes Social Security
)
Many are now of the belief that there may actually be no limit to just how long we could live. The medical community though also states that this increases that we have seen in the last 100 years, maybe comming to a maximum. Not due to a limitation but due to many other concerns such as obesity and other factors that we are adding such as heavy metals in our blood stream such as mercury.
These factors may actually turn the trend around anc actually start to decrease our lifespans.
Here is a good link on the subject.

1000 years huh? All I can say is that Viagra is gonna have it's work cut out for em! I can see the marketing pitch now..."Viagra, the Millennium Edition. Just because you can't get up, shouldn't mean you can't get it up"

In addition to that what about the people who do believe in an afterlife but would sacrifice that to live for 1000 years for the benefit of mankind. I imagine I would be able to advance myself quite a bit in 1000 years.

I can only imagine what my swordplay would look like

I read they want 100 million a year for research but the government doesn't want to fund that. Im sure some of that would go towards their Ferrari payments but still I wish we reprioritized what we do and do not fund.

okay now people live to be 80-90 and many of those have live miserably the last 10-15ys, Now living to be a 1000 might sound cool to some, but me i would hate to spend the last 250yrs of my life in an old-folks home. I would personally pass it up. Imagine having to buy depends for 300yrs straight, now that would suck!

At the point in medicine and genetic tinkering that we have advanced our life to 1000 years I think that also means we know how to increase the quality of life (as far as old-age is concerned).

Not to mention I think suicide is still an option

Live 1000 years?
Why?

I am already bored with life at 41, why would I live more 959 years without a decent purpose in life?
