Yeah, you are right. I did ''skip'' over that part. So to make my stance clearer I will add the two words I left out.
No, because.
Do I agree that Trump stood up and played the big tough guy? Sure. Do I agree that Kim is a penny-ante little dictator whose only claim to power is his spot in a lineage of dictators and a national mentality of subservience to feudal masters and a populace that is starving in an economy that has been a shambles long before Trump came on the scene? Sure
So, could it be that this tin horn Korean boss was cowed by the big gun threats of the new sheriff in town? Sure. It could be.
It also could be that the tough sanctions slapped down by Trump are the cause of Kims acquiescence? Sure could be.
And might it also be Trumps ''back room dealings'' that got other nations like Russia and China to put pressure on the little squirt to bow the Trump's great negotiating skills? Again, sure.
I suppose we can go on with the potential ways in which Trump has saved the day here and brought about this potential reconciliation, sure, but there is where we run into all of the ''ifs''.
It's great to believe in ifs' but as a site dedicated to ferreting out reality, we might also to consider all of the ''if nots'' and that is also a long list.
There is the strong likelihood that NK's testing facility is a shambles and that that is a major cause of Kims recent friendliness. Be that the case, we have no idea how many or even if he has usable nukes ready to fly across the oceans any more. I don't know and neither, I suspect, do you.
Could it be that China and or Russia have promised Kim goodies if he plays along with them and makes Trump out to be the hero here? Could it be that Trump is the president of the most powerful nation in the world and that he is easy pickings for other leaders to cajole into poor decisions for our country just to make him feel like a big man?
Here is the thing Paingod. Did you see the Fox rant yesterday? Did you listen to it going on and on? Did you here this master of world geo-politics actually come out and admit on the public airways that Cohen was representing him in paying off a porn star? And did you hear him admit this on the ''special '' day of his wife's birthday? Did you see him taking a half hour out of his busy schedule recounting his own greatness?
So no, I do not believe that Trump is responsible for this ''potential reconciliation in Korea, simply because for the last two decades Trump has shown to me that he is nothing more than a blithering idiot who found a segment of the American public who were willing to buy into his blather as if it was or even could be sound governance.

The news, huh?
In the 1930s, the New York Times praised Adolf Hitler

I already told you that I don't harbor any hate towards Trump. I am just pointing out that not everyone fully believes the "news" and linked that NYT/Hitler thread as an example why, not because Trump=Hitler (if that is what you think I was trying to do).
So yeah we are told there is much fake news, which many conspiracy theorists already believed, and you try and tell us to turn on the news as if those who put no stock in it are magically going to start believing.

Or maybe he wasn't the one who brokered the deal he is getting credit for in the media.
Of course, proving that isn't the problem of the unbelievers. Shouldn't be yours either. Believe it if you want and let others believe what they want.

It would depend on if they came in peace or guns blazing. I'm sure the extremes would have a field day with the finger pointing.
