The latest article in the War Zone titled "Shedding Some Light On The Air Force's Most Shadowy Drone Squadron" is a fascinating read for those interested in the whole UCAV/Drone issue. Nearly two years ago the authors took a look at gaps in the US's UAV/UCAV's etc linking the USAF walking away from several manned platforms to possibly unacknowledged programs up and flying. This recent article delves into more speculation and takes a look at the 44th Recon Squadron and what they may be flying.....

In the end, the existence of the 44th Reconnaissance Squadron could be our best indication yet that a major new drone program has moved into an operational state in recent years. At the very least it's another sign that the USAF seems to want to hide its high-end unmanned capabilities as long as it possibly can. Regardless of the finer details, the 44th RS is quietly flying something that the Air Force isn't willing to talk about. www.thedrive.com...

Its worth a look if at least for the unit patches.

These guys are always wordy. When I read the article, I was thinking how a flow chart showing X begat Y begat Z would be nice.

Every time they move something out of the TTR, you have to wonder what they moved into the TTR.

You see, the five and seven stars are a classic nod to that most secret of bases, Area 57.
