cali was a desert before China became industrialized.

their pollution caused rain on the US west coast.

they started cleaning up their act a few decades back-
since then the sand has begun to reclaim the west coast.

ashes to ashes...

Um... ok?

California has highly adapted rain forests that have been here for thousands and thousands of years. You’re saying that they weren’t there until 150 years ago?

Are you alright?

Ummmm, it was foggy a few weeks ago. At least in my neighborhood. And it’s sometimes foggy at 2-3am. Not super thick but it’s still around.

Well if the Pacific is warming maybe there will be a new reason to leave California. Hurricanes. LA gets washed into the ocean. News at 11.

Ahhhhh, nothing like driving through Tule Fog.

That's in the Central Valley - - apparently same thing happening there.

California Tule Fog Becoming Increasingly Rare: www.livescience.com...

I remember the Tule fogs we used to have in the valley back in the ‘70’s. One time the fog was so thick I couldn’t see to the end of the hood of my car, less than 3 feet! (It was a tiny British sports car)

Haven’t had fogs like that since.

I miss them.

Is there no possibility that this particular phenomenon is related to some sort of exchange of heat from beneath the seabed? I mean, the consequences are a concern in any case, but has that been explored as a possibility?

The scary part is when you live in fog -- you drive in fog.

I remember beach fog so thick you could practically see your reflection.

Yet, I walked blind & felt my way to my car parked on the street -- then drove to work.

Today I realize how insane that is.

I wonder if the people involved in 108-car pileups figure that out?

I guess people who drive in thick fog and avoid those pileups must have some luck on their side, but yes it seems a little insane and many of us have done it.

Biggest problem in fog is someone stopping because they can't see (pulling completely off the road is OK)

If everyone drove at a consistent speed (suggested 15 mph) - - they'd probably be OK.
