I can't believe all the hate for Bernie. He is trying to do something good that would actually benefit the American people, instead of filling the whitehouse with crimimals that are enriching themselves while scamming the working people.

Bernie was a sell out the minute he not only let the dnc and hillary cheat his thunder but when he endorsed them. This coming from someone who thought he would have been the best choice out of the 3 awful choices .presented at the time.

He spit on everything he was suppose to be against.

The left might have a good heart but their blood isnt flowing to the top.
Our govt under BOTH parties is riddled with conflict of interest and corruption. The last thing you should want to do to a corrupted govt is give it more money and power.

FIX the corruption then lets talk about these programs .

Secondly increasing the minimum wage does nothing but destroy the middle class and bring them closer to the poor ,until we become like a third world country where there is only the uber rich and the poor.

Wages goes up ,cost of living goes up +1 and your buying power deminishs.

Bernie and Co. would have to tax the rest of working America so much that we'd ALL be making 15/hour.

I am open to hearuing about it.

Good enough for me.

I am with Jrodan peterson on the income disparity problem.

Capaitalism has led to the highest increases in standard of living that the world has ever know.

Billions of people have been lifted out of extreme poverty in the past thrity years.

this is a great remaekable acheivement.

But obviously we should strive for even better achievements.

Wealth disparity is a problem, but we shouldnt reject the systems that have alleviated so much poverty overall.

So I am open to finding solutions.

The problem is we have seen what the socialism and communism lead to over and over again.

50 million dead under stalin.

70 million under mao.

Benrie rhetoric of "the rich are at fault and should pay for everything" is strikingly similar to the bolsheviks claim "the kulaks are wealthy and to blame for everything" which led to the exile and death of many people, and the starvation of millions more.

So when someone like bernie suggests such a sradical opinion that evreyone gets free healthcare, free college, and a $15 an hour government job, the burden is on him to explain just how he intends to accom[lish that.

Until then, he should be laughed at.

Liked you whole post but this is the best point.

Ask a bernie supporter, do you trust the government? Most likely they say no.

Then why should we give them such an absurd increase in wealth and power? Do we really think it wouldnt go to lining the exact same corrupt people these people claim to hate?

It's not concerning that Bernie says these things.

Many of us have been aware for years.

What is of concern is that so many agree with him.

And what happens after Bernie's term is up?

Go back to mean ol capitalism?

It would usher in a dictatorship.

Comrade Bernie's plan is nothing new, try to eat when his plan creates peasants gathering crumbs.

It costs $150 to buy a dozen eggs in Venezuela right now

The crazy thing is if the left would ONLY concentrate on minimizing the rampant conflict of interest in dc to a manaegable level , they would likely get what they want (socilised healthcare and education.)

I think the big disconnect between the right and the left when it comes to healtcare and education is that the right knows their hard earned money will be spent to line the wrong peoples pockets versus helping those who really need help.

I think if we actually had a govt that was under control and fiscally responsible with minimal abuse, waste, and conflict of interest the left and the right would see more eye to eye on running govt healthcare and education. However as of right now the govt is not worthy of the money and power they currently have.

Any wealth redistribution would just make it easier for the Nancy Pelosi's to become worth a quarter of a billion dollars in two years instead of twenty. The Left gets up there and pretends to care about you while they line their pockets, the Right sometimes realizes if they care about you then the market grows and they get richer. If you are stuck as minimum wage with no skills or incentive to ever effect the market, nobody will ever care about you, just the way Commie Bernie wants it.

Well its a little more than that, but I agree in prinicple.

Take the war on poverty.

We were told in 1965 that one of the biggest problems facing blacks was that 25% of black children were bron out of wedlock (I agree this is a huge problem)

So the war on poverty was created to largely help the black community out.

It seemed to have a noble goal.

However, it had the exact opposite effect of its intended consequence. By providning massive economic assitanace to single mothers, and thereby incentivizing it, we now see the birth rate out of wedlock for the black community is over 70%.

If 25% was a disaster as the Moniyhan report said in 1965, what is 70%?

I believe the welfare programs devleoped actually hurt the black community by creating an incentive not to be industrious and have a strong family structure, and instead rely on the government.

But did the creators care? Well as LBJ supposedly said "I'll have those n*****s voting democrat for the next 200 years!"

And it wasnt just the black community affected. Out of wedlock births for all races increased substantially.

But I am told if I am against the welfare and state reliance policies of the war on poverty that has devsated these communities, clearl I dont care about black people, which is not true. I just think their solution is making the problem worse.

The same is true of Bernie and other state reliant socialists policies.

I dont think it will help poor peopl, in fact I think it will make tings much worse, and make the people more reliant on a corrupt and incompetent government.

Government doesn't care about us now, why would a communist government made from the same people (with more power) start caring about us?

We're on our own. We always have been.

While $15 is way too high to start at, a job guarantee scheme has a number of advantages some of which even more right wing members should appreciate.

- you can abolish minimum wage and some other employment regulations providing greater flexibility to employers.

- you can abolish a lot of current benefits.

- it acts as a better automatic stabiliser than current unemployment benefits.

- it actually provides economic benefit rather than paying people not to work.

- it can provide higher skilled workforce.

I agree with most if what you say, I will say that some aspects of socialism are good and this country enjoys the benefits of it.

Example. Food prices are socializied. Socialized as a mofo. Uncle Sam pays farmers to not grow certain crops.

His plan is crappy but please, lets not throw socialism in with it. We toss the bath water, not the baby.

When government programs fail Bernie's answer is to do them twice as hard.
They are failed ideas not failures for lack of money.
Look how much has been spent on the war on terror/poverty/drugs?
Trillions.
What could all that money have done in the hands of entrepeneurs?

If this goes anything like Obamacare it will end up being a mandate to take the job the government wants to give you and a penalty for being willfully unemployed.
