The officers were shot while escorting a shoplifter out of home depot and are both in critical condition. They are still searching for the armed man. Don't know anything else at the moment
The above was not from the news source, It is from DFWNBC5

Two officers and one civilian shot in Dallas

Officers were searching for the suspected shooter near the wooded area and creek bed behind the store.

Aerial footage from the scene showed a man being loaded into an ambulance.

Was the shoplifter and the shooter the same person?

The local news were initially implying they were on and the same but it boggles the mind that he could pull a gun so quick that they are both critical.

Apparently they were helping out at the store. Nothing is clear at the moment but hunt is still on.

Addition to above source.

Citing sources, WFAA-TV (Channel 8) said Dallas police were helping an off-duty officer working security arrest someone when shots were fired.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was also responding to the scene.

I had a friend that did loss prevention on home depot.

The amount of people that are stealing from stores is quite large.

Home supplies are very popular it seems.

What I want to know is why the federal over reach for what's a local matter.

Maybe. They just showed a mug shot for some offense 10 years ago.

One officer has died. In my many decades of life in this area the last 5 years or so have been off the charts for police deaths

My heart just bleeds for the families.

Maybe this is how the end begins? More
and more people flipping out everyday
gunning down other people for no
better reason than because they can?

Prayers up for the officers and their families.

It feels like someone flipped a switch and these shootings are escalating... or maybe that's just the impression the media wants us to have. In any event, it's so very sad and frustrating and infuriating.

I've worked in large retail stores. One time a guy came in one night, pried open the thing with all the laptops, loaded up a cart with them and just casually walked out the door. At a different store, a guy walked in, went straight to the power tools, stuck an electric drill in his pants and just walked out with it. The one loss prevention woman was pissed because they're not allowed to physically stop people who walk out with things, they can only report it and hope police show up. People might imagine retail thieves act all sneaky and paranoid, but half the time they just blatantly walk in, pick something up, and leave.

I can't help but laugh.

What a dumb snip.

Shoulda been arrested for molestation of a power tool.

It's not about how smart he is, it's about how crazy he could be.

Cops are civilians. Once you start claiming they not you start accepting military rule over the country.
