Plus, being a terrorist is done by actions, not by religious affiliation.

It's mind blowing how many people don;t understand this. They think it's an arbitrary label given based on racial prejudice.

Just like gun crimes are done by criminals not gun owners.

It's a terrible analogy because weapons are designed to do one thing and that's to kill.

You don't see 30 mm cannons mounted on OEM vehicles do you because why?

It's not about guns per se, it's about the hypocrisy and knee jerk reactions of some, depending on the weapon used to commit the crime. One is "let's wait and see what the facts are" the other is instant damnation of an entire group.

I think I'll just sit back and watch you destroy your own support slowly from the inside out with stupidity.

I think you have us confused with Liberal Democrats.

Especially if it's Muslim.

Is this a Muslim thing yet?

Guns aside for the moment, how does anyone stop this?

Do we start profiling anyone who wants to rent a large truck?

Can we stop this and still remain a free society?

The truth no amount of law inforcement and no matter how strict the law will stop anyone from
doing something they set their minds too. I have never been truly safe and neither are you, the truth is we have to be prepared to handle the situations we face on our own, like its always been. I am pretty sure you know this already though DBC...

Same answer for stopping mass shootings. Crazy people do crazy things.

True.

Anyone determined to commit act(s) of violence will always find a way to do so, regardless of the laws.

Well, I was about to go on about car bans, Van Free Zones, etc.......

But we've all herd that enough.

So instead, How about a song of my people:

"I've got a lovely bunch of Coconuts, didly-dee, there they are, standing in the road! BUM BUM BUM!

Big Ones, Small Ones, Some as Big As Your Head!"

On a serious note, thoughts and prayers to all involved in the incident. I can't believe the NRA let this tragedy happen.

On an even more serious note...were you dropped on your head as a child?

So the inanimate object that is designed to kill has far less deaths than the one that isn't designed to kill... I'll let you let that marinate a little bit.

Less than 400 people per year are killed by any type of rifle...roughly about 5% of gun deaths, but we must ban ARs.

On the other hand...about 33,000 die in car accidents every year. About 2000 kids under 16.

So again... if we limit your car's speed to say 20 mph, we can probably reduce those deaths by 80% or more. Why don't you care about kids lives?

This doesn't negate anything I've mentioned. Firearms are made to kill and vehicles are not.
Your analogy was a terrible one.

Yes, more people die in America from auto accidents than guns - limiting a vehicles's speed reduces the usefulness. There will always be accidents and people will die, especially if you get a driver license in America just for having a pulse. It's a rather night and day difference to Germany for example, look at their mortality rates for vehicle accidents.

Oh wait, you mean there are a bunch of idiots that barely know how to drive getting licensed ? Well, damn, what happens when its just as easy for these idiots to get a tool that was designed to only kill? I guess they just walk into schools and just start offing people. Or malls. Or casinos. Or 24 hour fitness. Or waffle house.

Oh wait, you know what? Heart disease is apparently the leading cause of death in America. We should totally stop trying to figure everything else out until we can solve that one.

Firearms are a constitutionally protected right. Operating an automobile isn't.

Restricting automobile speed to 20 mph, while a pain the ass, doesn't violate a right. Telling me I can't own a firearm that's in common use because of somebody else's actions is a violation of my rights.

Until the folks who want more firearms regulation understand that you can't violate the rights of the many because of the actions of the few, the conversation isn't going to get very far. I'm all for keeping guns away from the crazy folks. I'm not all for being punished because of what crazy folks do.

Time to ban these assault vans. All van's should have manual transmissions. Cars shouldn't be allowed to shift gears so fast. Did the van driver have background check? For the children... if we can just save one life. I mean, no one actually needs a van when a smart car will do.

Yes but then think of the problems with setting up a pedestrian insurance system because if a smart car hits someone, there will be thousands of dollars damage to the car while the pedestrian can carry on their merry way.

How ATS has changed. Politicizing peoples death to pimp an agenda. That used to be a banning offence back during the Sandy Hook days.

Problem is modern society is creating more crazy people.

MSM, rhetoric, technology, social media, medication, poor quality of food, etc, is all contributing.

Totally missing what the right's MOS is right in front of you, though. With ANY mass event, the rightwing runs right to their favorite black sheep. The rest of us wait to hear what actually happened while the loudmouths are in a circle jerk fapping away to their assumptions.

I think you have us confused with Liberal Democrats.

Ever hear of the boy who cried wolf? This boy cries wolf sarcastically, every time. Sooner or later, no one will be left to listen & take them seriously. Cockiness is the downfall of many, and much.

We've always had crazy people.

It's just now. . . we have them in leadership positions.
