It's only bigoted, xenophobic, and homophobic to a leftist when a conservative or white person holds such views.
But after her Saturday remarks, Reid was showered with support from her fellow liberals and MSNBC colleagues, including this from the most powerful person at MSNBC, Rachel Maddow, who is openly gay: “Brains, guts, heart and soul -- beloved Joy Reid has always been a treasured and brilliant colleague, but I've never been prouder to work with her than I am now,” Maddow tweeted.
The author also repeatedly advocated against gay marriage on the site by criticizing liberals deemed too far left on the issue. Cable news host Rachel Maddow, who is openly gay and now works with Reid at MSNBC, was a recurring target in these Reid Report posts. “[Rick] Warren’s views on gays are out of the mainstream. Perhaps Rachel Maddow… and those at the left-most end of political spectrum wish it were so, but it is not,” the author wrote in a post arguing against Democrats who were pushing for gay marriage to be part of the party’s platform.
NEW YORK — Michael Lucas, a gay pornographic film actor and director, is calling out what he says is “hypocrisy” and a “double standard” in the entertainment industry. Lucas charged “two sets of rules” are being evidenced by the swift firing of Roseanne Barr over racist remarks while NBC has remained silent in the face of liberal MSNBC host Joy Reid’s alleged and admitted anti-gay comments as well as significant questions about Reid’s claim that her controversial blog was hacked. Speaking to Breitbart News in an interview, Lucas labeled Reid a “lying homophobe.”
“Roseanne was fired swiftly for her disgusting, racist comments so why wasn’t Joy Ried when she made her disgusting, homophobic comments?” asked Lucas. “I think the answer is simple: Roseanne Barr is an outspoken Trump supporter, while Joy is an influential left-wing political commentator with a huge following.” Lucas contended that “you can get away with homophobia as long as you are a liberal propagandist with a big mouth.”
MSNBC provided viewers with one of the most tone-deaf moments in cable news history on Tuesday when Andrea Mitchell asked Joy Reid about a racist tweet that Roseanne Barr sent about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett.
Last month, Reid famously kinda-sorta admitted to writing homophobic slurs that she’d previously insisted were the work of diabolical hackers.
On Tuesday, after Barr sent a racist tweet, Mitchell asked Reid – who is in Philadelphia to co-moderate a town hall event – about social media behavior in a moment that was captured by TheWrap’s Jon Levine.
Mitchell asked, "What do you have to do on social media to get fired from a top rated show on an American broadcast network?"
Upon hearing that ABC had canceled “Roseanne,” pundit Mark Simone wrote, "Looks like the only network Roseanne could work at now is MSNBC, they've had a host accused of racist posts, anti-gay posts, and anti-Muslim posts and don't cancel their show, if they apologize.”
