We hear a lot about fake news, and people being manipulated by the Powers That Be. But this really put it into perspective. What can be trusted.

I think you missed the actual point. This was a kind of quickly made example of what can be done. Someone with more money and time can get proper voice actors to sound real. Do I even have to explain this?

That's actually a real scary thought. Makes you wonder how many death row inmates are telling the truth.

i thought the obama video there was pretty convincing (under close scutiny flaws are apparent, but without being under the assumption or knowledge that it's faked, these flaws would be unlikely to jump out at the casual observer). good thing i largely believe in nothing and trust less.

the tech is nearing a perfection for deception.

Theres is a thread somewhere here in ATS from 2-3 years ago with much better resolution.
We've been watching to see if it will get misused.

Also... ever wonder how the FBI can confirm up to 90+ % that the voice on the phone was so and so john doe.
Everyone uses FaceTime, Skype, tweeter, FB.... your voice is stored somewhere. Get a good sample of your voice and quirks with in it. Imagine.

That's more where I am leaning.

They could literally create a dialogue and create a feud between countries without either actually having said a word.

now Im also not pro or anti death penalty; your country, your business. But on high end cases where they needed a conviction, how many times has this been done, even for experimental purposes to see how well it works. The phrase "everyone on death row is innocent" comes to mind... Im semi serious, is Texas, overpopulated?

this is old news from last year and the year prior, the only reason the MSM like msnbc are reviving this is because they are aware of whats coming.

videos of officials like obama and hillary committing crimes have been in military possession for years and are soon to be released. all this talk of fake videos is setting the stage to deny their authenticity.

I have not seen that movie in 30 years, spooky what I saw as complete science fiction is now our reality. The U.S.A headed toward a police state, digital manipulation of media, the popularity of reality TV...

Makes you wonder about if this was just imagination or prophetic?
